A Very Happy 21st Birthday!

Hey Guys!

You’ve seen my 21st Birthday Bash look (if not why not?! Catch up here), and now I thought it was time to show you my birthday meal look. Me and the Row Bow clan went out to a local pub that claimed to serve Tapas. I do love my Tapas! My 20th was the last time I could go to my faveTapas restaurant since it closed down shortly after. Not fair! But this local pub was actually pretty decent. It must have been pretty delish, since we all ordered seconds… Yuuuuummy!

I went for an elegantly lady like look this year, to mark the fact there’s no going back- I’m definitely an adult now! The yellow bodice is actually a long dress, I tucked the ends of it into the waist band. Probs should have used safety pins instead... The skirt came from Chic Wish which has a lovely range of amazing skirts. I also got the prettiest ballerina skirt, sure to please 5-year olds and Row Bows across the land when I show you on the blog soon. This big midi-skirt has an elasticated waistband and the fabric is actually pretty stretchy itself too. A white cardi and little nude heels finished the colour pallet off beautifully.

Over the summer months I love wearing my head chains, but I hardly ever pluck up the courage to venture out the house with them in tow. I am going to try a lot harder this year! This simple structured head piece is worn like an Alice band, with little slides at either end, but is placed at the front instead of the top of your head.  I like the minimalistic gem at the front teamed with the gold band. I find it looks better with my fringe scraped back so you can see the detail. Also, check out that ear cuff! That is something pretty special right there, HeHe!

And you can't have a 21st birthday without a beautiful Barbie cake, right? (Just living out my childhood dreams there, since I never had one when I was little!)

Ain't No Party Like an S Club Party!

Hey Guys!

Repeat after me now: 'Sssssssssss Cluuuuuubb!'

Yes! I made it! Finally, I was able to live out a childhood dream and watch S Club 7 in all their glory with less than 100m between us! I was always the one at school who never got to see them, #SadTimes. I feel like the rest of the Row Bow pack was off to watch them every birthday- although thinking about it now they might have been lying... But look at me now, tottering off down to the O2 arena and watching them in their flesh. Thanks to one of my bestest ever buds who invited me after her 21st present was tickets to see them. How joyous for all involved!

I'd had such a busy week prior to the 'contender for the highlight of my year', that I'd not even thought about what to wear. Whoopsie! But you know when you rummage through your wardrobe and think, 'Hey, one day I could put these together and that would look super cute,'? I relied on one of those looks for a back up. The top is a newbie purchase from the kids section in New Look. Weirdly, it dips lower around the front hem compared to the back- but I can work with that. I kept the linear theme throughout the look with the skort that uses lines in other directions to add more interest. A pale denim jacket and golden headband finished off my look perfectly.

We ate dinner rat the Slug and Lettuce in the O2 areana. Oh Man, it was all so delish! But just look at the size of the wine glasses! Just the base of the glass was the size of my hand...

Obvz, I would have liked to have posted this a teenie bit nearer the time. But I thought you guys should still look out for this song, if you've been living under a rock or the like. S Club 7's support act was a little chap names AJ Lehrman and he opened his set with a pretty funk ditty called Shut Up and Dance. I defo thought this was his own original song and was loving it, until I heard another band on the radio passing it off as their own. I was outraged! How could they name this new artist's catchy tune as their own! However, then I did a little digging and it is actually by a band Walk the Moon. I found that I really like Walk the Moon, probably more than AJ Lerhman (soz babes!), and their song Jenny is a good'un too!

Poolside Dreaming

Hey Guys!

In my last post I was flaunting my best Kendall Jenner look, with a little help from DressLink. Here is Part 2! DressLink were kind enough to send this pretty co-ord set and gee-whizz did it come quickly. Even though it was making it's way all the way from China it breezed over to the UK in under 10 days-including the weekend. With my first girls' holiday booked for summer, I am so excited to parade about poolside in this delightful number. Here's just one outfit idea I plan on wearing the 2 piece with.

The top comes up a little shorter on me than I was expecting. I'm flattered since it make's me think I'm actually lovely and tall, hehe! However, as long as no belly button is on show I think it looks fab. I bought these jelly from American Apparel during their sale at the beginning of Summer. I had no idea how amazing their sales were, £25 reduced to £2.50. Cray, Cray! The are the perfect tone to match the floral print on my to and shorts. Of course any beach holiday look is not complete without a wide brimmed floppy hat! I saw a sweet white one with flowers on in Primark today, thinking I might have to add that to the suitcase very soon...

BTDubs the ghostly coloured legs are down to the camera. I'm going to roll with that and just hope you all believe me! I am pretty pale, but not any relation to Caspar the Friendly Ghost!

I was feeling like I hadn't posted a cutsie Dog Photo in a while... Enjoy!

Thanks so much to DressLink!

Koachella-ing Like Kendall

Hey Guys!

When I made my ultimate student-friendly summer holiday wishlist, with DressLink, I couldn't wait to make a big bundle order. Then those kind fellows at DressLink asked if I would like to choose a couple of things from my wishlist to wear before my hols. Of course, I jumped at the chance! I utterly LOVED the cutesy co-ord combos and boho pieces. Here is part one of my wonderful gifts:

When this opportunity arose, I was still reeling in the amazeballsness of a certain Miss Kendall Jenner's Coachella look. I would have been krazy to have missed my moment to finally channel my inner supermodel! This white top is in the same vein of the cropped gypsy-style top she strutted about in on Day 2 of the music event, worn with a super slitted black, sheer maxi skirt. Although Kendall's golden head band twists around her head, my new purchase from Primark runs over the top of my head too. The gold coin details add the perfect Grecian goddess feel, along with a heavily bronzed face (soon to be a natural bronze I'm praying!). Wowza! How blue do my eyes look throughout these photos!

I wore my DressLink top over a white bandeau top from New Look since it it literally just the lace. I folded up the elasticated hem of the top to create a cropped effect. In the two images above, the left piccy shows the top at mid length. The right photo displays the top full length, with the elasticated edge of the top pulled all the way down. Cute, huh? If you fancy grabbing yourself this total barg of a top (£3.91 for the next week!) check it out here.

Sunny Southampton Smiles

Hey Guys!

After being persuaded to stay out until 2am living it up in the wild clubs of Southampton, it was fair to assume somebody wasn't in the best shape the next morning... Deciding that we'd meet and go to the conference's Breakfast at 9am, I actually didn't wake up until ten past. Oops, ma bad! It would appear that lots of other members of the group felt like that too because it was still pretty empty when we tipped up, eventually. All the more food for me!

Reflecting upon the weekend now, I actually learnt a lot more than I was expecting. I've realised that currently my mag has a long way to go to grow and become as established as some of the historic publications that we were mingling with. My uni magazine is a 4-year old Foundation Stage child who's just started school and discovered how to build a sandcastle in the sand pit. But we still need to go into the playground and make friends to contribute to a bigger, better sandcastle. Whereas student publications such as Red Brick (University of Birmingham) have been making sandcastles it's whole life and now as a big grown-up sandcastle sculptor, they're making good decisions with the support of all the friendly sandcastle experts they've met through various sandcastle forums online. Good analogy? Do you get it? Basically I'm now stalking all student publications I know of to collate the best parts and make Pow! Mag a Super-Mag!

This was my look for the second full day of more sessions with industry professionals. My team, new friends and I got a little restless and ended up lusting over free microwaves and winning apples in #AGMISpy... I literally 'woke up liek disss' since I rolled out of bed and popped on the floral crown as a guise distracting from my tired face (Shhh, but I think it worked!). Obviously I paired this with more flowers on my top. It's actually a Size 14 crop top, #FunFact! The wider shape gives it a summery flowy nature, which suits the fabric.

Ohhh, just look at that,'You tawking t' me? Ha, Peasant!' pout!

The SPA Awards 2015

Hey Guys!

During the first day of the #SPANC15 we were entertained with many industry speakers giving insightful talks covering the ins and outs of student publications. But what my team and I were all waiting for was the glitzy awards ceremony in the evening! I really struggled when choosing an outfit but I finally settled on my navy, leopard print collard dress. Only to be told when we got there that they were setting up a themes Speakeasy! The outfit I'd chosen didn't quite have that 1920s feel...So I scraped my hair back and twisted some parts and attacked my eyes with some smoky eye-shadow tones in the hope it looked like I'd put some effort into the theme. Turns out nobody went for a 1920s look, there were just some creepy figures as you entered the room. Oh Well! I think we all look pretty cute in the end!

The Pow! Mag ladies looking laaavley!

I teamed my dress with black leggings giving more of a Sixties vibe over the Twenties. This was mainly because I didn't want bare legs, but I slip straight out of my heels if I'm wearing tights and there's no strap to hold my little tootsies in! Initially, I was going to wear my hair with a small bouffant and tie it back into a pony tail. However, I think my attempt at 1920-esque hair works well because it show soft my flashy ear cuff, which I am TOTALLY in love with.

When nominations for the awards opened, we'd only designed the first couple of pages of our first ever issue. Despite this we still made the Shortlist for Best Designed Student Publication! I'm not gonna lie, our mag is definitely the most fun and creatively designed. But of course, I am a gracious winner so I clapped along with everyone else when they announced the winner. Albeit smiling through gritted teeth...HeHe!
