Dresslink Wish List

Hey Guys!

For the first time ever, I've actually booked a girls holiday! I'm so excited to lay on a beach and do nothing but soak up the sun. Maybs we'll squeeze in a little trip to take in some culture, but mainly we'll chill by the pool and on the beautiful beach. Since I only ever holiday within the UK and haven't been to the beach in sunny weather for at least a decade, this calls for a whole new holiday wardrobe! Obvz being a student, I'm going to try and get as much as I possibly can for the lowest price.

Say hello to Dresslink!

While perusing the interweb I found Dresslink, which offers loads of amazing pieces for stunningly low prices. It's like they knew I was looking for a cheap holiday wardrobe and found it's way into my life especially for that very reason! I'm not gonna lie, I have commenced a bit of a window shop on the site and here are a few of my #wants:

I'll admit that I'm not usually the first to choose white garments because, I think, against my skin tone they really wash me out. However, when I found this lace white midi skirt I changed my mind totally! The lace fabric means the white isn't such a harsh block against my skin tone. Pretty!

How sweet is this little set? I think it would look great as an evening, dinner out sort of ensemble. Paired with some lovely wedges and a fringed lightweight jacket, I think it would look rather dashing!

This was the first thing I saw and I fell in love with it straight away! For £6.30, it would be the perfect addition to my student summer wardrobe. Just look at those pretty blue and purple tones! The black edging looks great on bikinis, and now you can flaunt it on a playsuit too. Yay!

I can just picture myself now elegantly sashaying across the edge of the pool along to the bar in this cute co-ord set. The flippy shorts gives a girly skirt appearance and the racer back top allows for optimal tanning.

Dramatically brimmed hats always look super chic, and a classic monochrome pallet keeps it classy and less characterturey.

I'm desperately trying to be Kendall Jenner and grace summer with some seriously cool boho vibes à la Kendall's Coachella Look. Teaming this off the shoulder top with a black maxi skirt thats gives some serious thigh split game, and I'll be well on my way!

Are you going anywhere on holiday this summer? Let me know if you see anything else on Dresslink I should add to my summer wish list!

Another Day, Another Casting

Hey Guys!

Another Day, Another Dollar...although I'm interning so I don't get any money so that doesn't really work... Awks…

Today I was lucky enough to be added onto the last casting on our Fashion Week timetable. Christopher Raeburn was the only designer that I'd actually head of out of all the castings I'd been to for Fashion Week. He was a last minute addition to our schedule. Sometimes it really pays to have an embarrassingly empty diary and be as free as a bird ALL THE TIME…

This was a two-day casting so here's look 1. I bought the trousers from Primark the weekend before. They are a kind of mock-neoprene with a graphic oranges, white and blue print. Super pretty and eye-catching. Also super easily ripped apart, turns out. I was bending down, sitting on the floor and walking about the studio all day, and it turns out these trews just couldn't keep up with the pace. They split right where you wouldn't want them too. Luckily (I'm really hoping!!!) nobody noticed. Or at least they were polite enough not to tell me. But it's nothing that Mumma Bow couldn't fix, phew!

Little Mix premiered their new single, Black Magic, across the airwaves this morning. I was just thinking the other day, I feel like it's been ages since we heard from them. It starts with the troupe holler's that have become synonymous with Little Mix. But then the chorus gets a little funky and throws some retro 80's vibes. Beautifully cheesy, poppy and bobby. Literally the perfect Row Bow tune! Ta Girls!

Heidi Hearts

Hey Guys!

There's no rest for the wicked. I only had one day off during the 8 or so days I worked at London Fashion Week, and it certainly wasn't today! I started the day trying to get in backstage at Somerset House. That was tricky! We were meant to be there at 7:45 for the dress run of J. JS Lee's 9am show. It was the opening show of fashion week! But we arrived a teenie bit after and therefore with the loud music blaring away, now one heard their phones ringing. We got in eventually and since I have worked backstage in the theatre I took to the mad runnings of the show like a duck to water. Pretty sure that was the impression I gave off anyway... Straight after the J. JS Lee show was down we raced over to help Palmer Harding at their show casting. Lots of girls were coming in in pretty cray cray make-up as they'd come straight from shows and presentations.

Without thinking about it, I slipped on my pretty patterned jumpsuit. It turned out to be the perfect wearing for backstage. It had pockets! I happily stuffed pens and papers down there throughout the morning- since our late runnings meant no clipboard for Row Bow. I paired the jumpsuit with a super silvery BarryM liquid Eyeliner Charlotte gave me in our box swap.

Rita Ora has premiered another new tune from her forthcoming second album. This time Rita explains, over a bass-y comedown, how her chosen lover is her Poison and how it's not ideal but she can't keep away. The song starts with lonely piano chords and build into a mid-tempo jam as Rita belts out, 'I pick my poison and it yooo-oooohh-ohhhh-ooooh-ouu.'

We Run This Show!

Hey Guys!

This look saw me basically running my first London Fashion Week show! It wasn't my first fashion week show, that was way back in 2012- see here! But it was the first time I'd be trusted and left alone, with my housemate, to take total responsibility for the models for the Natasha Zinko show. We had to call up agencies and make sure they were going to arrive on time. I wasn't the most forceful when the model agencies I called said the model was in the same place she was 10 minutes ago, and therefore going to be even later for the show. But it's all a learning curve. My housemate was great so she took control of that. I was better at keeping an eye on models and making sure they were happily waiting for hair and make-up.

Because this was back in February, it was always so dark when I got back so the photos are a bit dark.  The cropped long sleeved jumper is navy and ribbed, the skirt is a similar navy tone with green tartan stripes on. I was strutting about in brown Chelsea boots all afternoon and looked cute in a blue and white polka dot scrunchie.

I watched Tarzan, the disney film, the other night while I was all alone in an empty student crib. I forgot how great the soundtrack is. You gotta love a little bit of Phil Collins- part of the reason Lily Collins in on this planet so we have him to thank for that too, HeHe! Even thought there are some really sad bit in the film the songs are still quite up tempo and more motivational rather than sad and soppy. My fave bit of the whole film is Jane's Dad at the end...

Polka Dot Poser

Hey Guys!

Since my first day casting London Fashion Week Models went so well, they let me stay for the week. Yay! This time I got a sneak peek into the studio of J. JS Lee. I even made it onto their Instagram...but they put blur on the photo so I just look like a fuzzy blob to the left of the image. If I'm honest I was probably a little too colourful for their colour scheme.
A photo posted by J.JS LEE (@jjsleelondon) on

I was working with my housemate who studies the same course as me and since we were so on point the previous day, the Casting Director left us to it half way through the day. Such responsibility! I didn't really explain what kind of things I do as a model caster in my previous post. What am I like, hey? There are two main roles, one to photograph and video the models as they come in- you have to collect their models card from them when they walk in too. And filing- which is what I like to do because I like monotonous jobs like that! I have to take all the photos and videos taken through the day and file them away into folders, which is way harder than it sounds because I have to try and match short videos to the photos and they all wear the same thing to a casting!

One of the models said she liked my cute scruchie and jumper today. I am sooo in there, I'll be having a chin-wag down the phone to Cara next!

Scouting for Models

Hey Guys!

So imagine that you casually emailed about to some major fash mags, but they all said 'No Thank You Row Bow'. Then randomly one of them replied saying maybs you'd like to be a model caster at fashion week instead? What would you do?

Well, it actually happened to me and straight up I said 'Yes! Take me as I am! I'll be at your beck and call!' (I couldn't write that in my actual email obvz, they'd have thought I was loco!). When I say Fashion Week, you'd be right to think I mean the one back in February... Awks... Even thought we're closer to the September shows now, I thought I'd fill you in on my time at the A/W 2015 LFW Shows.

Over the week I was lucky enough to attend the actual shows as well as the castings. On my first day I was working at a casting for Natasha Zinko's models. Her show started just before fashion week, so it off-schedule. We did the casting at her very snazzy house which was amazing! Super deluxe! I literally had no idea what models acting involved so I stuck with the comfy trainers. I tried nice hair, buuuuut the rain had other ideas...

Celebrate a Birthdate

Hey Guys!

You will be pleased to hear that I have finally finished my year at uni! I handed in my essay half an hour before the deadline, which is unusual for me-I normally wait until the last minute, literally! All my projects are done and dusted, marked and moderated. This means I can get back in to the swing if wittering away in here reasonably regularly. Lucky old you!

It's embarrassing how far behind I'd become with these posts. But cuteness doesn't have an expiry date, right? Hehe! This snazzy look was from Daddy Bow's birthday back at the beginning of the year. I think it is still a super look for the warmer months, with a slight alteration with the removal of the thick winters tights. I'm really into my pattern clashing when I'm making an effort with my looks. Although sometimes what I think will look nice, totally doesn't and it will really throw any other ideas I thought I had.

I went out for dinner with the clan to celebrate the birthday, we went to a local yummy pub. But the trouble with working at a school so locally means that I ALWAYS see the kiddies when I'm out being a grown up! On the very few occasions I choose to drink there is always a small child who comes racing in saying, 'Hello Row!' The waiter who served us was even someone I use to do drama with when he was like 11! Don't think he recognised me, though sad times...
