Ways to Wear a Floral Midi Dress with CelebLook

Hey Guys!

What do you do when you're in desperate need of a glamorous new look? Hop onto the CelebLook website of course! Crammed full with exquisitely, dazzling dresses and scrumptiously snug sweaters, CelebLook will definitely have what you're looking for.

Let's take this Floral Midi Dress for example. It's such a pretty look all by itself! Wearing it with some simple nude or tan heels allows the magnificent skirt print to really shine. I like the bold pink band around the waist since it emphasises one of my flattering features. But if you're like me and can't wear the anything the same way twice, read on to find out how I'd style the dress for different occasions.

The Dress

 Look 1: Smarten Up
Pink happens to make a frequent occurrence within my wardrobe, so it was easy to whip out this sheer shirt and tie it around the high waist. When you're rocking a multicoloured skirt like this, try to match the rest of the look to colours that aren't so dominant within the pattern. Pink, yellow and orange are all great choices with this skirt. I added a pearly headband to match the white top of the dress, which is peeking out from the shirt. Although you might thing this mixture of lengths would give a shortening effect, the skirt is the PERFECT length, as it finishes just below the knee where your calf narrows again. Wearing you're hair up, especially in a tall bun, adds even more elegant height.

Look 2: Casual Creation
If I'm meeting up with friends I don't always want to be wearing heels, but I do always want to be looking fabulous! That's why this dress would be great teamed with a casual cropped jumper and trainer combo. The navy jumper is a similar tone and shade to the deeper pinks of the skirt. Although I've covered the white part of the dress, I've added a white bead necklace to tie in with the white trainers. As I mentioned before, the dress works with both heels and flats due to its amazing length.

Look 3: Winter Warm
I'll give you that a strappy midi dress isn't the warmest choice for the up coming months. However, I've managed to work around this so I can get the most wear throughout the mistier months. I've slipped on a delightful, long-sleeved plum top on underneath the dress. It adds a little more interest but still shows off all of the dress. Also, since it is the layer closest to skin, it will keep you the warmest. I'm not usually one for long boots and long skirts, but I think paired with the brown aviator jacket it actually works rather well. By adding the deeper tones of these winter garments it brings down the summer vibes of the bold print but still allows it to be electrically eye-catching.

What do you think of my looks?
Glad to be of service!

Thank you to CelebLook for kindly working with me on this collaboration.

Fashionably Folk

Hey Guys!

Chances are that a lot of you have been fortunate enough to have had your childhood bedrooms eradicated, and renovated into a beautiful age appropriate boudoir. Well, this gal still sleeps in her 5 year-old's self bedroom when she goes back home. Don't get me wrong, I have all my grown up make-up, sketchbooks and colossal amount of clothes. But key kiddie features include a secret chair, bottomless-pit toy draw and the staple fancy dress box are still in my room. The glad-rags that live in the fancy dress box were usually cast-offs from family friends, so were way too big on a young Row Bow. But now I have finally grown into a few of the pieces. WooHoo, 4th clothes container here we comes!

This dress is one from the fancy dress box, and it is pretty fancy. Don't you agree? The sparkling golden lacy design sits upon a crimson red slip. I always thought my shoulders were quite tall, but they're not quite tall enough to wear the dress without an extra layer. Originally, I wanted to wear a crisp white shirt underneath the dress. But this relaxed, cotton shirt sits a lot better as it should seamlessly blend into the background of the look and allow the dress to shine! I felt the combination of the dress and shirt together looked quite folky and a little Marianne Faithful-esque. I'm not sure if she'd really have worn anything like this! What do you think? I added a big red hat, because why would't you? With all the reds, golds and browns going on I adorned my lips with a wonderfully rich purple lipstick which even looks red in the pictures.

Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris are fast becoming an unstoppable musical pairing. Especially after their new collaboration, Outside. Previously we saw the pair team up for I Need Your Love which was a pretty special number with it's relaxed melody that grew into a dance beat. Now, Outside presents some seriously strong violin game. It's this combination of the classical sounds and modern dance sounds makes for a really dramatic dance floor filler.

Suitable Satchel with Fawn Clothing

Hey Guys!

I was contacted by the lovely Iram from Fawn Clothing who just wanted to let me know about the wide range of goodies they stock. After having a little explore of their website I decided that I rather took a fancy to this gorgeous vivid pink satchel. I may have made the cheeky purchase, as well. It's amazing what I can be tempted to do sometimes! I thought I'd show you the wondered of this bag and what I plan to use it for.

Have you guessed what I'm going to use the satchel for yet? It is the perfect size to pop my notebooks in for uni. I love a cute notebook design, it makes me feel so much more efficient when taking my notes. I usually have to carry around an A4 sketchbook accompanied by a smaller notebook. This bag fits A4 perfectly with even a little bit of extra space for other essentials. As a blogger I always have my camera on me, which comes in a bit of a chunky case. But no fear, it easily nestles in the satchel alongside my also chunky glasses case, pencil case and purse.

For those of you wondering: My shirt is from H&M, Skort (skirt concealed shorts)- New Look Teens, Glasses- New Look Mens. I am digging these new glasses! They make everything a little bit blurrier since they're not prescription. But picking up fashion glasses like this is a quick & cheap way to give a new glasses design a little road test on your face before forking out for the real deal.

Off to uni I go! Tar-rah!

Scottish Countess

Hey Guys!

I think it's the green & blue tartan combined with the fluffy collar that makes me think of a luxurious Scottish Countess. Not that I have any royal links, but I reckon I could blag it with this look! I wore this outfit to work and was greeted by a small child with a positive, "Eeeeww, that's a horrible colour. Why are you wearing black?'. Don't you just love my little anecdotes from work! I think wearing these pretty princess dresses have created the impression I don't do dark colours. But I can look grown up in darker tones just as well as looking like a 5 year-old in baby pink in her favourite party dress! Although I have to say I do trump the latter category over you any day, hehe!

#SorryNotSorry for another cutsie dog photo!

We all know who Meghan Trainor is and one way or another you'll have an opinion on her mega-hit All About That Bass. I've received some exciting news that her rumoured new single is titled Lips Are Movin'. I love my old school blue-eyed soul, 1960's and 1970's doo-wop style music. In her, hopefully, new debut Meghan mixes up her old school sounds with a modern interlude of a spoken rap. My word, the tune of the title lyric is sooooo catchy!

Zoo Mark II

Hey Guys!

It is soooo cold and miserable outsdie. So I thought's I'd brighten everybody's day with a sunny post from the Zoo. I'm an such a lucky girl, I managed TWO trips to the zoo this summer. When I was working at the primary school I got a free trip to Marwell Zoo (see that post here), then at the end of summer I managed to squeeze in a trip to London Zoo. This was another 'Pretend Tourist' trip so I could educate my old housemate, from New Zealand, on the best places to go in London. Having achieved Madame Taussards, the London Aquarium and the London Eye last time we only had one big trip left, in my eyes!

It was a very lovely, sunny day but it was also a little chilly, especially during the journey. I based my outfit around my stripy dunagrees. I really should have thought it through since long days out + dungarees + Row does not make the best mix. I always forget how tricky it makes going for a wee! I used a blue theme throughout my look and wore a navy cropped jumper under the dunagrees. It made an interesting look with a chunk of side tum being exposed for the whole day!

How come nobody told me about the Gwen Stefani collaboration Maroon have on their new album, V? Gwen is a childhood hero, who I've recently rediscovered my love for! You wouldn't think it, but I am quite the fan of her ska-band No Doubt. Although Adam and Gwen's duet is a little slow and not as pinky as her other work, it's good to hear Gwen on an emotional track. I am really enjoying the whole album from Maroon 5. In Your Pocket is a personal fave, but also their latest single Animals is (although a little creepy) a fab listen!

Snazzy Pants

Hey Guys!

Whose ready for a work ensemble brought to you by Row Bow?

I really do love these trousers but I hardly ever whip them out. They are so easy to wear as they're a really nice lose fit. The print and satin soft fabric means they look super snazzy with the hassle of wearing something that takes a lot of effort to look fabulous. I stuck with a cooler pallet for today's colouring and teamed the trews with an aqua blue crop top. Having not really been a crop top, midriff bearing kind of girl before summer, now I'm relishing the last few days I can before the christmas belly begins to load up! All the kids noticed my matching sparkling silver jewellery on my fingers and fringe. Isn't it crazy how that just kinda happens. It's like I plan my work outfits the night before or something!

Do you like my nails? What else am I expected to do whilst babysitting all by my lonesome self on a chilly Friday Evening? I've used a pretty pastel blue as a base and created a cross-hatched effect over the top with a thinner nail brush in a white polish. I think pale nail polishes emphasis a tan really well. Even if it's the littlest, faintest, hardly there tan. Against pastel nails, the tan will come out from hiding. But I wouldn't go as far as totally white nails, it washes out pale skin tones too much. Therefore it has the opposite effect and loses the warm tones from the skin.

When I had first heard of Charli XCX, and saw the promotional images of her, I just didn't think I was going to warm to her. She looked too cool for Cheesy-Pop-Loving Row. But having actually heard a little bit of her music now, I will admit I am actually turning into a little bit of a fan. Her newest single to hit the air waves is Break the Rules. This is of course something that I would never condone or participate in, I'm far too much of a goodie two-shoes for that! Debuting with deep tones from an electric guitar the song progresses into, what sounds like, the use of a synthesiser and I love the school-girl chant effect of the backing singers. She even makes the word, 'discotheque' sound cool. It takes one hell of a woman to achieve that, hehe!

Pageant Princess

Hey Guys!

If you're new here you may not know that I work at a children's theatre. So when I say. 'Check out my new look for work' and reveal a pretty pink dress and tiara, like I'm about to do, it should make a little more sense now. Check out my new look for work! It was inevitable that I would eventually end up going to work dressed as a princess, and that day has come. Last week, one of the new teenie wee's had a little plastic tiara on. So, natch, I thought I should wear mine too! I'm pretty sure most of my friends wouldn't be surprised that I own a tiara (in fact I own two, but thats for another time), I'm sure it's just the kind of thing they've come to expect. However, its safe to say I'm pretty sure it went down well at work. When one small child asked if my Mummy was the Queen I said yes, thinking well every princess has a queen as their mother. But then I realised she probably thought I meant the actual Queen, good ol' Liz. This was the same child that believed me when I said I was married to Justin Bieber last year (don't judge, he was down with the kids back then). She ran with that for a good couple of months... #Awks

To create the whole Disney Princess image I had to wear a pretty pink dress really, didn't I? I wrapped a darker pink ribbon around my waist which made a beautiful bow at the back. Every Princess must be doused with beautiful jewels! My tiara is mainly gold with silver parts so I felt it was just about O.K to wear gold jewellery. I braved the day without a heavy dosage of black eye liner, and compensated for it by wearing lashing of deep pink lippy. Probs not a look you'd see Kate wearing.

Shift K3y's song Touch was a total fave of mine this summer, and now he's back with a delightful song for the Winter. I Know is a funky fusion of 'deep house synths' and a sprinkling of garage, so I'm told. All I know is that I'm rather keen on the highs and lows of Mr Shift K3y's voice and the dancey beats he appears to be dropping!
