Road Trip Style

Hey Guys!

Today's post shows a little Road Trip Style-ee. I recently made the family trip where we enjoy 8 hours of each other company cooped up in a car as we drive from one end of the country all the way to the other, in one long slog! This look was inspired by the fruitful choices of Fly Drive Holidays on offer from Round The World Experts. I'm thinking this outfit would be perfect for the South Africa Garden Route and Safari. I even made a special effort to include the exotic pal tree in the background of my photo. Although I am basically covering the whole tree...Oops!

Perhaps you're taking an insightful trip to South Africa and are wondering what to wear for the road trip. I'm thinking this is a great post to read as I explain why this ensemble is a road trip terrific!

First thing to choose, is to what you base the entire rest of your look around. It's a difficult decision to make early in the morning just before you set off, so I put together my look the night before. Then I have the morning we leave to pack everything, natch! I chose the simple monochrome striped, shift style dress as it's super simple but the pattern still makes it attractive (who knows who you'll bump into on safari?). I the decided that the boots were a must, not only because they elongate your legs with the shorter hem line of the dress, but also because they're chunky. Thinking logistically you want to pack all your smallest things so you can cram as much as possible into that suit case of yours. I will admit I did have a few over flow shoes that made they're way into my mums luggage, but you must make use of any valuable space available to you in times like these! The jacket it super light weight so I don't overheat in it. But if there's wind sometimes you don't realise how hot is actually is so its good to be sun-safe with a throw on jacket like this.

I am super prone to leaving all my rings in the service station loos wild safari outdoors, so I chose to go sans hand accessories this time. Apart from a colourful scrunchie around my wrist just in case it was too hot in the exotic lands and I wanted to tie my hair up off my back. #FunFact: Scrunchies are much better for your hair than hair ties are the don't put so much tension on your hair and pull it out. I did decide on a silver and blue necklace to tie my outfits colouring together. I'm sure the animals would have appreciated it! I wrapped a little red, floral bun garland around my hair so I blended into the beautiful foliage in case needs be mid-trip.

Just peeping about the top of my booties are some cute little socks so my feet don't get all sweaty in a stuffy car. Ewww!

A sensible bag is essential when travelling. I chose this as it was big enough to fit in the regular handbag features as well as holiday addition, i.e chunky camera, sketchbook & pens, snack (lots) and a map of course. Nothing like a handheld paper map to get your bearings! It had short and long straps depending on what I'm planning on conquering that day.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I hope you all have a very much well deserved summer break!

Ohh La La

Hey Guys!

Each week I like to try a different look, at work. I try a different theme, obviously to practice getting into character and becoming the personality you understand. This look I described as my 'French Look'. I think that the ensemble details of the colours and prints speaks Parisian woman to me.

I bought this dress in New Look the when I was working at Style Magazine. I went in for a pair of white cork wedges and came out with 2 new dresses instead. What am I like? I just couldn't leave empty handed, I'm sure you understand the feeling! I added the red, blue and green square scarf as I wrapped it around my neck. I was mindful that it didn't look like a swaggy kind of bandana dewberry. But I think because as it sits lower around my neck, it looks like a lovely little neck wrap instead. The scarf is the only colour within the look, apart from a little red lippy tint.

I love my little white frilly socks and, I'm sure you've noticed, I try to wear them with everything. I think they look so cute with trainers. To finish of the French Lady look, I wrapped a cheeky little Chanel ribbon around my hair.

Ohh La La indeed!

Big Girl Playgrouper

Hey Guys!

I'm pretty sure all of the children at work think I'm about 14. When they ask how old I am, I get them to guess and some of the answers are quite flattering. Then when I turn up to work in an ensemble like this, dressed like a big kid, I'm sure they are a bit confused when I'm like, "I'm a big girl who lives in her own house and don't go to school anymore."

These smart, black dungarees were initially bought for a shoot I did earlier in the year. It had a gothic 90's theme and these worked perfectly in a look teamed with a baseball jacket, tattoo necklace and scrunchie! When I did the mass order for the shoot I honestly had the intention to sent it all back. But then I kind of fell in love with the pieces and here I am today wearing them to work! Looking back upon this look, I think that it might not have been my finest moment. But you gotta experiment to know what works, hey? I chose the simple nautically striped, long sleeved top to wear underneath and picked up the white tones again in the shoes. The silver chained necklace suits the greyscale pallet suitably. Then to jazz up my look just a smidge, I popped on a pretty colourful scrunchie in ma hurrr.

This was my attempt at a snazzy hair do for the day. I re-did the braid for the evening when I went out for dinner, check that out here. I tried to braid the front section of my hair, but keep my fringe still. It was a little tricky and I think the problem here was that I made it too loose. But I managed to make it much more prominent for the evening meal. The rest of it is rolled back into a trusty sock bun.

I mentioned Shift K3y's delightful (my favourite word at the mo!) tune Touch back in an earlier post, but here I am bringing it up again. Only this time I mention it because ma boys Union J have done a cover of it. They put it up on their YouTube account a few days ago as bit of a filler between 1st and 2nd album material. They have slowed it down, but I've realised that the original vocals of the song aren't extremely fast paced anyway. It's just the cheeky instrumental throughout the song that has a pretty funky beat. But Union J warble over pretty piano and gorge guitar twinklings. I'll even leave the link here for you. Even if you don't like the mainstream cheese give it a go, it might just tickle your fancy!

MDX Night of Champions

Hey Guys!

When I started Middlesex University back in October (it feels like so long ago now!) I decided that I really wanted to be involved with the Student media somehow. I remember always seeing in my fave high-school chick flicks the school newspapers, so that was one option, or the radio station. Little did I know that MDX (as all the cool kids call it don't cha know!) launched their own TV station at the beginning of the academic year too. I was spoiled for choice with what to get involved with and it couldn't have been easier to get involved. They work out all the positions through student voting so I put myself up for Fashion Editor of the MDX TIMES and, whey-hey, a week later I was writing articles for the newspaper.

I've had such a great time this year being Fashion Editor, and last Wednesday I was invited to attend a little awards dinner to reward some super students at MDX. The first award was for Best Journalist at the MDX TIMES and I was chuffed to even get enough nominations to make the top 3 shortlist. The politics editor won that and the deputy editor and myself were highly commended for our efforts over the year.

The second award was for Best Section Editor and lucky Row made the short list for this too! I'm not gonna lie I did do a little Facebook campaign to try and get everybody to vote for me for this award. I truly felt I had put so much effort into this one and it obviously hadn't gone unnoticed because guess what? I WON! Yippee!

To be a runner up for one award and to actually win another award really made my night. I was super chuffed. But that wasn't everything. I was also nominated in the Best Article Category. At the beginning of the year I was filling a while A3 spread with my own articles because I couldn't contact any contributors. But through out the year this got easier and I was really proud of some of the contributors work. I won this awards alongside the politics editor for her more article about benefits. My London Fashion Week was a little lighter read!

Oh, and one final picture for the photo album, the MDX TIMES with the SU President who is one of the main Editors of the paper. Don't we all look totes adorbs?!

(These photos were all taken from the MDXSU Facebook page)

My outfit gained many compliments from lots of people throughout the evening which was lovely. The floor-length dress is from Lavish Alice. It's beautiful Grecian style looks so girly and dainty whilst being dramatic and still creating a statement. I love the dress and it was only a tenner in the sale woo-hoo! I kept the styling elements very minimal so all attention was really on the stunning gown. I chose neutral, gold pieces. These included some tan chunk heels, a subtle golden Tinkerbelle necklace, a little swarvoski crystal ring and a golden double braid headband. I really feel that these accessories added to the Grecian appearance of my look.

A Little Bit o' Tartan

Hey Guys!

I know tartan is really more of an Autumn/Winter trend, but what can I say? I'm a rebel, hehe! This outfit features my tartan dress originally from Karma Clothing. Why not have a look at the full dress here?

I wore this look on a casual day at uni and I think it would also be perfect for college or even a cool and caj non-school uniform day. I think that the dark pallet allows the vivid red tartan band to really become the pizzazz of the ensemble. Combining the texture of the jumper with the print of the tartan makes for a really interesting mix. They aren't too different as they both repeat a vertical line pattern.

Not that you can really see, due to my luscious, bouncy locks covering it, but the necklace peering though is made up of 5 gold triangles with alternating black and silver glittery bits. Yay, Row loves glitter and sparkles! Speaking of hair, I love this style. I've tied it up like my Row Bow Regular bit-up-and-a-bit-down but made the top section into a bun. It reminds my of my experimental days in Primary school when I was so adventurous with my hair styles. 4 corner buns & scrunchies combo anyone?

All Star Mr and Mrs

Hey Guys!

So as well as going to see Sweat the Small Stuff be recorded, you can find that post here, I also went to see All Star Mr and Mrs be recorded. I'm not gonna lie the guests weren't quite as exciting as The Vamps and Abbey Clancy but it was still a good chuckle. Me and my uni bud went along to see a lady from the 90's band Eternal, a man from Eastenders and a comedian/actor guy compete for the money prize. Shows how famous the people were doesn't it? I can't remember any of their names! Danny from McFly was on it a few days before we went to see it. Just missed him, darn it! Whenever I go to these things sometimes the best bits are the Warm Up guys who are there to keep us audience members entertained while the producers decide the next move. Apart from at Sweat the Small stuff, that guy was not so entertaining... Today I was reunited with my main man Andy, who I've seen at most of the shows I've been too. Him and Philip (Schofield) were like two peas in a pod, so funny together!

I knew that we'd be waiting outside for a while, but I didn't realise how long we'd be waiting. We arrived when it was light- à la the photos- but went into the studio when it was dark after a hour and a half of waiting! Crazy! I also knew that in the studio it can get pretty sticky. I chose this cross print dress as its super light weight and not stuffy with tights. I accessorised with silver accessories by adding a belt and a chunky necklace.

I've also worn this dress here, and here. Why not check out the other ways I've styled it? It's such a versatile dress.

So I was watching a vlog style video from a certain aforementioned band, about their recent time spent in L.A. At the very end of the video one member strolls across the beach playing a cute little ditty called 19 You+Me. It's by some lovely people called Dan+Shay, who I've never heard of before but I'm sure I'll enjoy listening to more of their stuff. Its a super chilled country track which reminisces about a summer they shared with a pretty little thang, back when they were 19. Give it a listen!

Inaugural MDX Student Led Teaching Awards

Hey Guys!

I was lucky enough to attend the inaugral MDX Student Led Teaching Awards back at the end of March and I thought I'd share the momentous occasion with you all. Basically I got invited because of the work I do with the SU. I'm the Fashion Editor of the Uni Newspaper, don't ya know! When I got there I didn't know anyone else and couldn't see my newspaper buds, so I mingled with a group of students who had actually voted for their fave tutor. The thing is I didn't know this event existed until I got an invite late 3 nights before... Oh well, I made some friendly new buds!

The attire was instructed to be Smart. I wasn't too sure what the night was going to be like and I'm usually guilty of over dressing usually so I kept my look tame. Only when I got there girls were in elegant ball gowns and the guys were wearing tuxes. I felt the complete opposite, totally underdressed, there in my leggings. Next time I'll be more aware that Smart really does mean Smart and that means its totally cool for Row to over dress. Ah well, I managed to look smart but chilled too.

The top is a long sleeved, thin chiffon, star print top. The style reminds me of the Gypsy Style shirts, meaning that the fabric has a lot more fluidity to it and the sleeves are baggy but the elasticated hems gives the top a bit out bounce. An all black look is usually quite slick, but I think it would have looked very heavy on me. The transparency of the top and pale cut on the boots breaks the outfit up more. Then the addition of the wide chunky necklace, which mimics the wide neck line, adds a little sparkle into my ensemble. The only addition of colour was my favourite BarryM bright pink Lipstick, which I believe to be number 145. But the number has worn away!

Oh dear, alcohol always goes stright to my face! My cheeks begin to glow a bright red and my smile becomes uncontrolably big. But it's ok becasue my new best friend, who I sat next to, was in a similar state as myself after a glass.

Upon flicking though VEVO I stumbled upon a band I've never heard of, Chasing Grace. They have a familiar folk sound to the, by familiar I mean it wouldn't sound too out of place in the charts I think. I should probably do a bit more research on the band themselves, but their songs Run and Free satisfy me for now. They very slightly remind me of the Matilda film soundtrack. But like only tiny segments. The rest of the songs have kind of eerie vocal on them combined with a strong drum rhythm.

Pringle's Birthday Dinner

Hey Guys!

Since I had the wonderful injection of work experience at the beginning of April, all of my other posts have become somewhat back logged. This look was actually for my baby sisters birthday dinner at the end of March. When I say baby I mean my teenager sister since she hit the big 1-4! God she's so old now, but she is still super little-much like my elder sister. Here's to Row sticking out like a sore thumb in the family photos... We all went put for a family dinner to Wagamama, which I have just released is not actually called Wagamama's. Who knew?

I am flaunting a new (well, new back then) trousers kindly donated to the Row Bow foundation by Sister JK. She bought them an they were a wee bit too small so I got them as week-old-hand-me-downs. Woo-Hoo! They are a gorgeous burgundy red colour with a black paisley print wrapped all around them. To give all the deserved attention to my new trews, I tucked in a black vest top. But it's one with slightly thicker straps, but I'm sure it still qualifies as a vest top. I dangled a chunky silver chain around the neck-line and slipped on a mustard blazer jacket. I really wanted to wear these tan heels because they're the kind of heels that are great for a causal affair like this dinner. The jacket matched the colourings of the shoes.

I attempted a single braid across the top of my hair during the day at work, but I managed to greatly improve its appearance by the time dinner came. No doubt you will see how I wore it to work, but here it is a lot more pronounced and compliments my loose curls very pleasantly. I am wearing Apple Pie by Models Own nail polish. It's the scented one from my Haul Post.

Natch, we had a few momentous birthday photos taken. Of which I decided to stray from the standard Row Bow smile. And now there's a deliciously beautiful photo floating about the internet of what I thought was one strictly for the family photo album.

Bye-Bye Beauty Intern Row Bow

Hey Guys!

This was a super sad day for everyone involved, but the time had finally come when Row Bow had to leave The Sunday Time Style Magazine. Man, was I totally settled into the flow of work as well! 2 weeks just isn't enough, but if they'd had me any longer they'd never have let me go, HeHe! I'd been there long enough to know what needed to be done, like filling the latest issue so when I asked K-Twizzle for jobs I'd be like, 'Done that, done that, done that!' I am just so efficient! I gave E-Dizzle and K-Twizzle their Easter Thank You Baskets and they were pretty darn well received I'd say. E-Dizzle had popped off to Paris for a few days (alright for some, isn't it?) so her Basket was waiting amongst Chanel gift bags in the Beauty Cupboard. If I ever received one myself, I'd think that girl was a total babe, HeHe!

Since the skirt is quite loud, I don't find I can whip it out as easily as other more chillaxed skirts. Last  time I wore this as a 'finale' look for the time at the primary school I worked at over summer. You can see that gem here. I think the design was noted in the office, even the Picture Editor said she liked it. It is a pretty decent head turner piece. I hope that the Row Bow Legacy will be Dress Colourful, Dress Cute, Dress Cool. Kids Clothes for the Win. You gotta be reem to be seen!...Okay so maybe not that last one... but I do hope they remember me. I'll defo never forget the first bit of real industry work experience I ever bagged. Not a bad place to start, aim high people! #Tangent back to the look I brought out more of the blue tones by pairing the body con pencil skirt with a well fitted, long sleeved, aqua crop top. In keeping with the blue theme, I strutted about in my navy heeled brogues and matched them to my cardigan. A gold necklace and some orange lipstick meant I was ready to leave, but at least I looked mighty fine!

Models Own Haul

Hey Guys!

Not too long ago Models Own had a super 50% off sale which I had to make the most of. Especially since I totally missed the 6 for £20 offer which is one of the best deals ever. I paired up with Sister JK and these are our little purchases.

I've never ordered from Models Own before, but I am loving the packaging. It made my order feel so special, hehe! I ordered all the nail polishes you see, and the lip crayon and Erase Pen were for Sister JK. She said she wanted a pretty colour that was quite subtle to start wearing regularly, so I selected this one for her. But then she buggered off to Germany and guess where the Lip Crayon stayed? In her make-up pile. Nice One!

I selected the Cerise Shine HyperGel Polish which is the best bold, but not in your face, pink polish. They've added a glorious selection of HyperGel polishes since I ordered and they all look divine. Next to that is the Scented Fruit Pastel Nail Polish in Apple Pie. I'm not gonna lie, the polish itself doesn't smell a great deal but the lid of the polish does. Having said that it is definitely not a warming Apple Pie smell, but it's still girly and uber sweet. Along from that is the Hed Kandi polish in Ibiza Mix. As glitter nail polishes go, I'm not a major fan. However, this one just has such an unusual mix of sparkles and they look to be bigger glitter pieces, so I'm hoping it all come off a lot easier! The final Nail polish I popped into my backer was the Velvet Goth Polish in Absinthe. I don't have any colour like this in my existing collection so it will be a welcome addition. It s a little different from other glitter varnishes because it dries with a matte finish, but it still twinkles. Clever hey?

Easter Bunny Row Bow

Hey Guys!

I really wanted (still want) a pair of white strappy sandal, cork wedges to go with a look I had planned for my last day at work. I didn't go home the weekend in between my 2 weeks working at The Sunday Times Style magazine, so I wasn't able to pick up my tan heels. Bummer or what? So I popped into town after work one day and whilst grabbing the last few essentials for the thank you Easter Baskets I made (See below!), I had a gander for shoes. I wondered into New Look and ended up finding they had a very decently sized sale on. It would have been rude not to rumble through the rails!

I managed to find this lovely pale peach collared skater dress. Its a lot paler that I'd normal go but now I think this is the PERFECT dress for me! A wonderful combination of my two favourite things a skater skirt and collar, isn't it just the cutest? I kept the styling super simple today, because sometimes its just nice to be a little plain Jane. Even the men in the post room said they didn't recognise me! Not sure whether to take it as a compliment or what? I feel like I always point this out but blue and orange are complementary colours which means when paired together they appear bluer and orangeyer, so I've paired the dress with a deep blue cardigan. Although, I do prefer the look sans cardi.

Whilst reflecting upon the look as I write this, I'm really confused as to why I chose a pink lipstick! I can't tell which one it is, silly me! It looks fine, but at the moment that wouldn't have been my first choice. I think that it was probably my BarryM matte lippy in 146- but who knows really? The BarryM one is paler I thought... That'll annoy me all week. I'm determined to find out which one it is!

Who likes my Easter Basket that I made for E-Dizzle and K-Twizzle? I hand wound all of the pink ribbon around the handle all by myself. Inside the Easter Basket I had hidden easter Haribo, easter marshmallows, an easter egg, more chocolate and disney princess chocolates and deliciously smelly tea bags. What a babe! #BestInternEver

Purple Rain-Bow

Hey Guys!

Do you like the title of the post? I'm so witty!

Today I was really felt like one of the team, as I was included in one of those TOP SECRET meetings. The secrets we shared were so deep and emotional I felt we all truly bonded...HeHe! It wasn't a DMC top secret meeting, but instead a meeting all about The Sunday Times Style Magazine Beauty Awards. I am one of the few people in the know about the nations top mascara and favourite breakthrough product. Don't you just wish you were in my shoes?! But my lips are super sealed until the 16th May when the issue is published and you can pick up a copy with the 18th May edition of The Sunday Times.

I went for a very purple ensemble today. Purple bow, purple lippy, purple top and purple skirt. Phew, I'm all purpled out! I feel the combination of the top and skirt is a little bit of a print overload, but their colours both include purple (natch) and a pale yellow so they don't massively clash together. The top has a pattern of a skull face and is stylised in a mexican Day of the Dead kind of way. A world away from the pretty, little girly style I usually adopt. I did pop on a bold, pink hoodie to lift the pallet a little. I took these photos in my lounge, since I got back late, so the lighting isn't totes amaze. This means you can't really see but I am wearing brown long, heeled boots. I thought that they would be a bit more interesting than just dolly shoes, again.

K-twizzle said she really liked my hair today. Thought the bow was really my colour, Ohh-err! I did a standard sock bun, but wrapped a little plait over the top of it. I was inspired by the interesting braid hairstyles I was researching for K-Twizzle last week. Upon seeing the photos of my hair today, my little sister has decided that my nose is quite well fitted to my face. Wow, what a compliment, hehe!

I'm sooooo excited! Cher Lloyd is finally putting up some awesome new tunes. She is majorly moved on from her Swagger Jagger phase and her new album is set to come complete with a little parental advisory sticker. Oh-er, she's a big girl songstress now! Bind You Love, Dirty Love, Human and Sirens are all floating about online and I can't wait for her whole album to drop at the end go July. Yeah Buddy!

Sweat The Small Stuff with The Vamps!

Hey Guys!

Woah, Nerdy Row alert! Got my glasses on in these photos, but since everything is so clear with them on, I always forget to take them off. The reason I had them on was because I had been making my way across London to get the The Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. 'Why were you going there Row?' I hear you ask, well, I went to see a recording of Sweat the Small Stuff with Nick Grimshaw. I thought seeing Nick, Rochelle and Melvin would be a treat but then I found out that my new favourite people The Vamps were going to be there. Yay, how exciting! I feel our relationship has developed very quickly since it was only really the week or two before that we really got the know each other, then suddenly I was within 20 meters of them. Without sounding creepy!

I truly had no idea what to wear, even without knowing my babes were going to be there, hehe! I knew I could have been that waiting outside for over an hour (I was with another show that I'll post about soon...Oh, the suspense!), so I wanted to be not-whingey-because-I'm-Toasty Row. However, the studio gets pretty steamy from the vast amount of big twinkly lights that make the participants look so radiant, so I thought my thermals were probs not appropriate. I settled on the pretty pale combination of a blue jumper tucked into the yellow lacey dress. I popped a vest top on underneath because the jumper is a lot thinner than it looks. I wasn't sure about the two pieces at first but I think the belt convinces me that the work together. Then with my green khaki jacket over the top it all came together. Dandy!

Naturally I didn't get any weird looks from other members of the queue while I had my photo taken. HeHe! My buddy, the other half of Row 'n' Rox, liked the graffiti on the far wall. It says, 'You MUST Love Yourself', how uplifting.

The episode was aired last week, I think. I know, how awful of me I haven't gotten round to watching my pretty little face on the telly yet! Think I'll make a night of it and gather all the housemates round the box and we can all gorp at my face together.
