Spring Safari

Hey Guys!

This red floppy brimmed hat is my new fave accessory. I love popping it on with every look, but the only thing preventing me is the fact I haven't quite perfected my hat etiquette yet. Walking up the hill to uni is a breeze, no hat trouble. But on my way home it begins flapping everywhere! I'm not sure whether to hold it or act caj! But I wore this look to work which is a lovely indoor setting. A calm haven where I don't need to safeguard my hat from the wind. Although I do always feel a little peculiar sat indoors with a hat on.

The day I wore this was one of the first sunny days in the middle of March and as soon as that sun makes a cheeky appearance, in my eyes, it's summer! So straight away I grabbed my most summery play suit and frilly little socks. I've wanted frilly socks for the longest time and I think they go with such an awesome variety of shoe styles. These ones are from Primark, which I think have been a little slow on this bandwagon to get them in stock. Topshop have been leading the way- but they're too expensive for Row. I like to keep it real with my £1.50 socks!
Thinking practially I wore thin black tights and a khaki jacket, as here in England sun doesn't always mean warmth. I felt the colour scheme of my look lent itself well to the camouflage print of my wedged trainers.

...And Pout!

In My Woolly Tribals

Hey Guys!

With the indecisive weather we've been having, entailing sunny mornings and rainy afternoons, I've been so confused as to what to wear! But I have found the perfect balance to keep warm and cool (temperature wise, because I'm always cool. HeHe!).

The thinner layers on my legs means I don't get too hot when pacing up the hill to uni,  in the pretty sunshine. I've worn thick black tights, because lets not get ahead of ourselves we are only in March still! And I've chosen my purple tribal print skirt which is too pretty not to grab out of the wardrobe on a bright Spring morning. Then to keep warm in the colder, rainy, miserable afternoons (and evenings because I've been making full use of the library's 24hour opening recently #nerd) I've continued the blue tones of the skirt in the form of a navy woolly jumper. I think that the deep shade compliments the look combined with the dark tights.

I've accessorised with my plastic, pale gemed necklace. It reflects the skirt colour pallet so well. I left my hair reasonably au natural, but it started to expand and has gone a little frizzy.

Well, this is somehting I thought I'd never say: I think Prince's new song with Zooey Deschanel is frickin' fantastic! FALLINLOVE2NITE is the perfect Row Bow Jam, with a disco vibe and a really easy chorus I think I'll be banging this one out for a long time to come!

Lady in the Long Black Skirt

Hey Guys!

I did a shoot the other day based on the Womenswear trends from the recent(ish) A/W 14/15 catwalks. For the shoot I had to buy in a few pieces of clothing with the intention to send them back once I'd finished with them, honestly! But then I accidentally tried on all the pieces, and decided that actually I think I'd quite like them for me! I did feel a bit bad because we didn't pay the model, but I ended up with a load of new clothes for my efforts. So I let her take a new top, jeans and a little leather bralet. #funfact: Our model was Kitty from http://kittyunderhill.blogspot.co.uk , she defo gives a good model face.

For the shoot I bought the purple top and black maxi skirt I'm wearing in  these photos. I'm really into my cropped tops at the mo, even though I don't have a wash board stomach. But in 2014, I don't think anybody really cares about that anymore, I think a lot of people have realised the lovely ladies on our tellyboxes and magazines aren't there to be aimed for. They're there to sell a product, and not all of us have to aspire to be them. I've even noticed that mannequins in shops have a little tummy, and they still look cute in all the clothes, HeHe! For the longest time I've wanted a maxi skirt, thinking a looser fitting one would cover up the non-toned tum more. But I am LOVING this stretch one which glides over my tum.

I chose to accessories by expanding on the purple tone of the top. I went for a darker red floppy brimmed hat, which I thought for the longest time was called a Fendora(!), and a big bejewelled gold necklace. The gems reflect purple and blue tones of light which all links together rather nicely. My deep red lipstick matches the hat and emphasises the drama also created by the hat.

It's always nice to stroll into uni and have several people comment of how lovely my outfit is!

I'm not gonna lie, as I've been writing this post I've been on a major Gwen Stefani/No Doubt binge. My ultimate Gwen fave is Cool. The song is super chilled and the video looks amazing, culturally classic.

Nana's Cafe

Hey Guys!

So at uni we're doing this project where we have to make a mini, handmade magazine. We've decided to do a ZINE about Grannies. Pretty niche, hey? To create a little bit of content for my lifestyle review section, we went to East London and visit a little place called Nana's Cafe. My group are obviously so on trend as just in this months issue of Company magazine they mention Nana's Cafe too!

I went for a pretty purple and blue combination. The dress is super simple as it's just a long sleeved bodycon dress. I paired it with a cute sailboat print cardigan which I wrapped belt around to mimic the body con aspects.

The colour scheme totally worked with my pale pink and pale blue Accessories necklace. I showed these photos to Mumma K and she said she liked the bow I put in my hair. I felt a Eighties Madonna vibe going on. I also managed to forget I had my glasses on so some of the images have been accessories with my purple glasses. Which totally go with the colour scheme of my outfit anyway!

Cher Lloyd has fiiiiiinaaaally dropped a new track! The first release from her sophomore album, Sorry I'm Late, is called Sirens. The lyrics seem emotional and ballad like, and there are drummy beats like ballads also, but the overall production of the song is less emotional ballad like.  I don't know how they do it, but I like it!

Thanks Gabby for the photos!

I'm So Fancy

Hey Guys!

This is such a simple look for uni, and it really embraces the colour blocking trend which seems to be ever-present. As we are in this awkward transitional weather period, it's nice to just wear a long sleeved top and ditch the big cosy coat. To keep the pink and purple super bold in the look, I chose black tights and shoes. But as we enter the warmer months I'm defo feeling bare legs for this look. I can't wait to get my little chicken legs out! Sat by the river having a picnic with my old school buds is on my summer list, fo' sho'!

I'm a massive fan of adding belts aroudn the waist of many different looks, and it's no different here. I think that the tan belt wrapped around the top of the skirt breaks up the 2 colours well. It just adds a bit more interest and thought to an outfit. The long beady necklace has a golden chain with picks up tones from the belt, creating a coherent look.

Round We Go!
I feel like I should have told you guys about this ages ago, but I am adoring Iggy Azalea's new tune Fancy, featuring Charlie XCX. I've heard of Charlie XCX but not from her. This song has given me a great first impression of her and I'll defo have a look at Charlie's other songs now. And who doesn't love Iggy? Swag, Swag, Swag on you guurrl! The video is an ode to the classic nineties film Clueless- so cool!

Sparkling Kitty Cat

Hey Guys!

When I wore this look to work the children were quite bemused. As soon as I walked, in a little one asked my boss, 'Why is Row a cat today?' I replied, 'It just kinda happened!' Then later in the day a kiddie asked, 'Why can I see some of your tummy?' Obviously it because thats where my top finished (Duh!), but some kids just don't understand fashion.

This yellow skirt is one of my pretty purchases from the H&M sale a couple of weeks ago. It has a very similar design to my mint lace-like skirt, you can check that out here. But this skirt is a lot more fluid as the fabric is actually lace rather than a design on organza. Keeping the pastel tones out, I wore my long sleeve, cropped top. The aqua blue is quite bold itself but compliments the skirt well.

I added a belt which is wrapped around my waist. #funfact: it's actually a very long necklace, made from many little peace signs. It's fun to experience with jewellery as belts. I wore my Sister Vintage binocular necklace as the actual neck lace for the look. As another little silver accessory, I bought some bejewelled cat ears. Although you can't see it in the photos, the fact they're from Poundland is quite clear as the ears are actually wonky on the head band. Little disappointing, but I worked around it!

What d'ya think?

I feel the music at the end of my posts has been severely a'lacking at the mo. But my chocca weeks are leaving less and less time to look for new tunes! Promise I'll be back on point soon. It would be great to hear what you've been listening too!

Nail Wraps #2

Hey Guys!

Here we have a nail wrap tutorial with some lovely nail wraps I bought myself just before christmas. But I totally forgot that I'd bought these because they arrived at my house a few days into the new year. I understand christmas is a busy time for Amazon, but it didn't have a receipt in it or anything so I thought somebody lovely had sent me a present. Then it dawned on me that I had actually bought the set of 5 myself. Oops!

I have another photo demonstration for nail wraps here.

The wraps I used. Pretty Graphic Pattern.

Apply sticky side to nail.

Use a nail file to 'cut' the wrap to your nail shape.
I tend to file each side off then meet in the middle.

It's as easy as that! This is a photo after a few days of wear.
Pretty good, hey?
If you want them to last even longer, wear gloves which in the shower particularly when washing your hair. Otherwise I find I have severely little pieces of the design in my barnet. It looks weird, but if it keeps your nails looking beautiful it's totally worth it!

Another Photoshoot

Hey Guys!

In my Fashion Communication and Styling course, there are A LOT of photoshoots. This year alone I've done 3 already with a further 3 planned in the next three weeks! Busy, Busy Row Bow. The photoshoot I wore this outfit for was based on Menswear trends we saw from LC:M (Mens Fashion Week) back at the beginning of the year. Woah, it feels like a lifetime ago it was New Year!

This shoot was at the end of January so it was very chilly, although lovely and bright for our shoot. I think this is quite an unusual combination of garment, for me, because the jumper and dress don't have any similarities. I like to match-match things. But by accessorising with the blue/pink toned necklace it brings the two pallets together. The silver of the necklace chain is reiterated in the metallic silver belt. I kept warm with a classic tights and leggings combo. Naturally I went with little black dolly shoes to finish my look. But these were proved not the be the best choice I've ever made, as the little subway to my house was totally flooded and I couldn't get throughout without walking through a puddle that went up to my muddle (well, not that far not like ankle-dle!).

You can tell it was a super windy day from the pretty windswept appearance of my dress.

I've found that this song was actually released back in early December, but it's only recently started to have a little radio play on the British airwaves. Bruno Mars has relaxed Young Girls, as the fifth single from his second album, Unorthodox Jukebox. I also love Natalie from the album #justsaying.

Nails Inc Matte Red Polish

Hey Guys!

I mentioned in a post a couple of weeks ago (see here) that I had tried out the Nails Inc Red Matte Nail polish and wanted to share my thoughts about it with you. It's only fair since my options are not the happiest this time.

As an creative type I use my hands a lot (trying not to make that sound dirty), I'm not one to sit with a pen in my hands all day. So my nails are in a rubbish state anyway and I'd hope my nail polish would cover up this. But I often find after only a few days my nail polish chips off without fail. At least I get a few days out of it looking passable.

I tried out the Nails Inc Nail Polish on one of the days I was working at the theatre and below is the result after one day with 2 shows. So tatty! Bear in mind that this was when I had painted my nails the night before. And I'd already had to top up on a couple on nails, including a full redo of one finger.

I'm not sure if its because there isn't a top coat, obviously because of the matte effect. I found the polish to be very flimsy and therefore lots came off if a little got caught. Working at the threat involves putting make up on about 80 children's faces, and holding a script in my hand for 2 hours at a time and hiding far too many doors open. Not a lot of fiddily work, like if I were on set for a fashion shoot.

The verdict is that Row Bow is not impressed. Considering you can get the matte effect very easily buy careful hovering your wet nails over steam, it's not worth paying money for the Nails Inc Polish. Luckily this was a freebie so I didn't have to actually spend the money. #quidsin!

Beauty Box Swap with Miss Nyss

Hey Guys!

You may have seen my Blogger's Beauty Box Swap I did at christmas with the lovely Sam. If not you can catch up on it here. That amazing adventure was organised by the lovely Nyss, from Miss Nyss Beauty Magpie. A few weeks after everybody had enjoyed their boxes and posted about them on their blogs, I was happily tweeting my post out. But poor Nyss revealed that she hadn't actually received her box yet! Instantly I offered to send her a box (full of goodies obviously, not just empty!) so that after all her hard work sorting the christmas pairings she was rewarded. After deciding to do a little box swap between the two of us, luck would have it her Christmas box finally arrived. However, we decided to plough on anyway since I was rather excited to do another box. So here is what lucky little Row Bow received in a lovely box from lovely Nyss:

Oooohh, Exciting!

It's just like Christmas!

Tetras like packing skills!

A pretty card from Nyss. Very Row Bow!

All of my lovely goodies. Time for their close up...

Soap and Glory Hand Cream (smells delish) and BarryM nail paint Gelly Effect in Green Berry (genuinely been lusting over this colour)

MUA Smokin Palette Eyeshadow collection and Rimmel Scandal Eyes golden eyeshadow stick (perfect to brighten up eyes)

Foam Bananas (not gonna lie, I had like no food in my cupboard and was waiting for my shopping delivery when I opened the box. These were a very welcome addition to my tummy) Urban Fudge Hair Spray in Raspberry and Vanilla fragrance (it works so well and smell soooo good) and an MUA Lip Crayon (smells refreshingly like peppermint and is fabulous to use)

A little colour test to show what colour the Eye Crayon and Lip Crayon look like on the skin.

Woo-Hoo, that was super fun to unwrap! Thank you so much Nyss I hope you really liked your present. You can read about what I chose for Nyss on her blog, here.
