Pretty Girl Rock

Hey Guys!

This look wears another one of my new dresses, a textures green skater dress.

I wore it with a silver belt to lift the palette instead of a darker brown belt. Because of the the belt reflecting paler tones, I chose a little pearl to make me look like a classy bird! I think my hair looks really pretty here, which totally flatters my face and the rest of the look. The difference this week is that I straightened my fringe (due the the weather being frightfully kind and restyling my 'do' as I travelled about). I also pulled out some longer lengths of hair front the front and straighten them to frame my face. I popped in a lovely head ribbon, from the babes at Prairie Charms bloggers christmas sale. I tried to tie it in a bow shape at first, but my head is so full of valuable knowledge it was too big to do that. HeHe! However, since there is a piece of wire running through the ribbon was able to pull the fabric out and make it fan like a bow. Pretty.

Because of the lovely pink tones on pink in the headband, I chose my bold pink cardigan. I wasn't sure about this when I threw it on in the morning, it was this one or a navy blue cardi in a similar style. But having been able to check my look out in the mirror whilst taking small children to the loo, I decided it looks mightly fine!

'Quick Pout'
In dedication to the title f the post and how successful I think this look and these photos are I'm suggesting a quick listen to Keri Hilso- Pretty Girl Rock. Whereas I, myself, am listening to bangers I used to be addicted to between 2009/2010. Going Old School!

Purple Galaxy Design Nails

Hey Guys!

My housemate went away to see her chums over the weekend a few weeks ago and brought back substantial bag full of nail polishes. Her buddy was having a clear our and my housemate thought we'd be able to give the new nail polishes a good home. She was certainly right!

Who knew George at Asda did nail polishes? I didn't. The pale purple here is the Asda polish and I used a slightly redder toned purple on my ring finger and thumb nail. I was only going to put the glitter on a few fingers, but i love my glitter and decided to cover them all in glitter, Yay! On the darker nails I painted two coats of glitter, for extra impact. The same housemate who supplied the welcome additions to my nail paint collection was also my Secret Santa for christmas. One of the little treats she gave me was a selection of nail sequins. So I added these blue sheened stars to my middle finger.

I think they look pretty snazzy if I'm honest (even if they were a little chipped when I took the photos).

Amazing Aztec Print

Hey Guys!

At the end of January the new year had truly settled in and everything was getting back to normal, after the break. This meant I had to go back to work also. It's no bad thing though as we've already established how much Row Bow loves going to work! If i were stuck behind a desk all day or simply scanning barcodes, I'm sure it would be a different story. But working with kids and playing drama games and singing & dancing all day long is way too much fun. And I get paid for doing it, Yay!

Because I didn't have work for the first few weeks of Uni term, it meant I stayed at my Uni crib instead of going home every weekend. Any one who knows me will know Row has significant attachment issues to her Mummy! And I'm not afraid to admit it. I was only 1 week into a 3 week Mummy-free period and I was already missing my fam so bad. So I may have done a little online shopping as a little retail therapy. man, did I need it! I found myself kindly donating money ASOS's Primark collection. I bought about 5 things, mainly dresses with one cute pair of dungarees. Can't wait to whip most of them out in Summer. But I really wanted to get some wear out of them now. This beautiful aztec print dress works well with a black longer sleeved top underneath as it ties into the dress' colour pallet. I did get some lovely comments from the new parents I met (Not gonna lie, I had posters up for something and referred to myself as 'Row, the impeccably dresses assistant'!). It was jolly cold but I wore tights to give a slight variation in the transparency through out the look.

I love whipping out the floral crown when I go to work. All the littler ones think I look like a princess. #OneDay! To link the orange from the dress and the orange from the flowers in my hair I slicked on my bold, citrus orange lipstick. It looks quite reddish in the photos. It's a Maybelline ColourSensational Lipsticks and it is soooo luck to wear.

Like the good friend that I am, today's music suggestion is a mother release from a college friend band. Last time I mentioned them they were called Metropolis. But now they claim that name is dead and we should now refer to them as No Atlas. So No Atlas have announced their second EP is out soon, Reply & Reply. The new single that precedes it is called Preston Blank. It's got a slower to their previous releases, which keeps it cool and relaxed. Check out their vid here.

Photoshoot with Team Row Bow

Hey Guys!

Be prepared for a PHOTO OVERLOAD guys!

My Fashion Communication and Styling course entails a lot of photoshoots and dressing up many a model. And once we got back to uni after out christmas break, it was straight back into snapping some more hot pics. But of course since I was wearing my new skirt I had to have the photographer taking a sneaky image of me for my blog. I'm too good to you guys, I know! HeHe!

The theme for the shoot was black and white, and that was literally it. So we worked with one of the first year fashion design students and got a fab collection of clothes with all had a great colour pallet for a black and white shoot. Row Bow took on the role of hair and make-up. That was super fun. I love that, on this course, I can mix up my roles on each shoot. I've had a go at photographing and make-up-ing and styling.  Fun, Fun, Fun!

Little bit annoyed that my necklace has gone a little 90's style, with it being a choker style and a longer length. It was meant to be 2 similar lengths, but I'm sure you get that. This is my second new skirt from Matalan. It's the longest length skirt I think I own! The pattern is a greyscale acid wash and brings a hint on grunge to my wardrobe. I paired it with my mustard jumper because it was jolly chilly in the morning!

Such a babe!

Oooh Artsy. And check out dat ass. Mmm Roxy!

Lecture Look

Hey Guys!

Back to uni means back to more lectures and indulging in lots more hours at the wonderful library. I shouldn't complain really, I only have one lecture a week where as more academic courses have 3 a day. But for this creative busy body I just can't bare sitting in a dark room for an hour with people talking at me and not really to me.

This look is comprised of a new white jumper and new black velvet skirt. It's fair to say I may have gone over board in the treating myself to lots of bargains over christmas. Randomly, not too far from home, an old village hall was holding a cashmere sale. As you do! I managed to pick up one of the only pieces that isn't even cashmere, a cotton knit jumper. I've had multiple comments that it's a 'cricket jumper'. It does have that appearance with a similar knit pattern and its very warm and toasty. Perfect for winter lectures. I've tucked it into my new velvet skirt from Matalan. It is a kids age 16 and was £2 in the christmas sale. I also got another grey acid wash skirt in the same order, which was £3. Two fab new skirts for only a fiver, reeeeesult- as Mumma K would say!

With my basic look taking a monochrome pallet, I decided to accessorise by indulging in colour. Bold red lipstick always lifts a black and white look. The lovely silk scarf was a birthday gift from a  friend and I hardly whip it out as i don't want to ever ruin it. It was quite a risky move choosing to wear it in combination with a bold red lippy, stain city could have occurred!

Pretty in Plum

Hey Guys!

Sad times, this is the last look from my weeks work at the primary school! I had to go back to real life and uni the week after. But I'm defo sure I'll go back in the summer, I have so much fun getting all properly dressed up for 'work' everyday. #SuchaWeirdo #WhoActuallyEnjoysWork? Row Bow apparently.

I usually like to have like a finale outfit like in the summer, when I wore this bobby dazzler on the last day of term. However, here I'm not sure the whole ensemble has as much pizazz as I'd usually work towards. Here I was more trying to get a look to work with the wow-eey shoes. I've got my new necklace on and worked the purple top to compliment with that. The skirt has a lovely charcoal grey and blue blocked colour pallet which I teamed with black tights so the blue stays so vivid and works well with the purple up top. I thought the colouring was very dark, for a typical Row Bow look, and extremely wintery so I places my orange Prairie Charms Floral Headband. The addition of the tan belt give another tonal link, so neither the headband or bel appear out of place.

I really do love my vampy deep plum lipstick. However, I do get concerned that it appears to wear away from the middle quite quickly and obviously. When I ask anybody they always say they can't tell but I'm sure they're just being polite. Maybe I should just invest in a better vampy lipstick?!

Dress Up: Rewind to 1941

Hey Guys!

This has to be my favourite thing about working at a primary school. All the fancy dress days! Today the children were 'transported' to 1941, the beginning of the second world war. (Man, I hope I've got my facts right! I was totally listening to the teachers and not just thinking how pretty my outfit was...) The class had a drama workshop run by 2 lovely ladies, and even I was enthralled. I loved how engaging it was and we pretended to time travel to the past then this woman popped out and the air raid sound was going off! Cray, Cray! I'm not sure the older kids were totally convinced, however I heard the younger kids deco believed it and got quite scare by the air raid dire. Bless! I might have to make a request that I'll only go back and give up my free time, if I get to dress up for another fun day!

When I first discusses what WWII wear would have been like, the teacher said anything below the knee. And instantly the slutty realisation that, actually, I don't own anything that finishes brow my knees apart from trousers. So I raided my sisters wardrobe, but that was pretty unsuccessful as well. But she did have this nice dress which I thought looked plausible- Bearing in my my historic education appears to be the one area the education system let me down in.

I wasn't going to go all out and use gravy on my legs so black tights sufficed. However, the belt is actually my Grandma's, and it's called an Auxiliary Belt and it was used by nurses back in the day. I'm not sure this was actually used in 1941, but not long after. I had to keep the heels on by putting black hair ties around them. Cheeky! Why must my feet be so little?! I popped on some pearls, even though Dad thought they were too dressy and rich for a time that was about austerity. To be honest I really wanted to dress up, but didn't know if the class teacher would. I wanted to go for a look that didn't necessarily scream 1941 so I looked normal if she didn't dress up. But also we know how Row Bow likes to look nice on EVERY occasion.

Who likes my hair? Pretty funky, hey? I'm sure thats what they would have said about it back in ol' 1941. HeHe! I literal rolled the ends of my hair all the way up to my head, and weaved  long cocktail stick through it to secure it. Not gonna lie, I had several compliments and question about it. #PrettyChuffed!

Warm in Leopard Print

Hey Guys!

I love posting outfits which include garment I've previously worn, and showing you guys how differently I can wear them. I've worn this dress here and here. Although they were both in winter months, I have still managed to dress them up quite differently. That's the true work of a stylist in the making there!

The dress is navy, and navy & black shouldn't really be paired together because they are so tonally similar and in shade too. I suppose I haven't tried wearing the dress with white, I envisage that would make a very Spring suited look as the pallet would be lifted. I like the black, cropped length sleeves as it elongated my arms with a black silhouette.

These shoes were super cheap from Primark a couple of years ago, but they definitely have to be my favourite heels EVER! They are super easy to wear and walk in. I have embarrassingly small feet and higher heels really hurt my feet. I think its because there is less of my foot that actually touches the floor so my toes get super achey. But I have found comfort in a good old chunky heel. They are so much easier to wear for causal attire and gives more support to your food. I love the brogue style of the shoes, and think they would look super cute with frilled little ankle socks. I've seen these in Topshop for, like, £8 which is redick! But now Primark have exact dupes for a £1! I might as well call that place my second home!

Bringing me back to my Art Foundation Days (woah, this time last year I was just starting my final major project. #crazy) Kyla La Grange has a new tune out. And can I just say that in the video she look absolutely stunning?! The neon and fluro paints are super cool and really liven up the slower paced song. Not that it's too slow mo for me. I love the song just as much as the video. With signature haunting chants from Kyla's beautiful voice the song deco proves it Kyla's time to shine!

Sixites Smart

Hey Guys!

For the first day of term, well first day for the kiddies I started yesterday, I went for a bold sixties look. I'm feeling the 60's vibe because of the high neck and pearls. I'm not sure alot else of the look is out there as much as the sixties were.

I was playing dress up one might before bed, as I frequently find myself doing (!), and I decided to raid my dressing up box. Let's not lie we've all had one, just some people, i.e Row Bow, still have them. I was donated a load of old clothes from my nanny and her friends which never fit me at the age of 7. But now it's a totally different story! I finally fit into the long skirts, and unique dresses. While I was having a rummage in the box I found this red woolly jumper. Sister JK was Noddy in a show once and this was part of her costume. Funnily enough, I chose not to put on the blue hat and yellow scarf when I wore it here. It's the horrifically itchy type, so my neck was almost as red as the jumper by the end of the day! I can't imagine how JK managed to perform in this.

I contrasted the baggy nature of the jumper by tucking it into my grey leopard print skirt. It has a very wide elasticated waist which sucks everything in. (And I mean EVERYTHING!) I think that the two pieces creates a nice silhouette because the top is looser and unfitted, then the waist is very flattering and it cinches in so much. And the rounder shape of the skirt mimics the wider fitting top. It's similar to an hourglass shape.

To keep the 60's block colouring running through the look, I wore thick black tights and black Dolly shoes. I even block coloured my lips with a bold red lipstick. If only I didn't have a bold pink watch!

So I was making this playlist for my Uni proj, as I mentioned in my last post and felt I had to let you know about this song I found. Ariana and the Rose had their song Heartbeat played at lots of Fashion week shows-but I'm not sure the actual ones. And although I'm not a huge fan of that one I do like In Your Bed. It starts all slow and manages to stay slow but pick up a dancey beat.

Behind-the-Teaching-Scenes

Hey Guys!

If you saw my previous post you'll know that having had an intense week working long hours at the theatre putting on many a show, I decided that if I wasn't totally zonked enough I wanted to work another full week at a local primary school. I worked out that I'd almost worked 13 consecutive days, but I was allowed one cheeky day off during the shows. But even that was filled with strenuous sketchbook work!

My first day at the primary school was an inset day, so I got a sneaky-peek at all the behind the scene meetings that take place. The new Headteacher even ran a little workshop to motivate all the staff for their impending OFSTED inspection. It's a massive deal in teacher world! I kept my look pretty caj as I truly had no clue what I would be doing. I was practical enough that if I was going to be climbing about on chairs all day I'd be good. But also pretty enough that if I was going to be sat in meetings all day I wasn't an eyesore. A lovely colour combination of mustard yellow and clay orange is a more mature way to colour block in Autumn/Winter.

I'm currently putting together a playlist for songs to play at the debut show of SON OF MAGNUS (my uni class and I @_SONOFMAGNUS son-of-magnus.blogspot.com Instagram: wearesonofmagnus fyi!) and I stumbled across Alex Mytton's remix of Rhythm of the Night. It's a risky move considering Bastille have literally just had huge success with their cover of it. But it is very different. He stick to the original track and adds some funky trumpet beats (if trumpets can be at all funky...).

Row Bow Butterfly

Hey Guys!

The last day of shows was today (well like a month ago now!). We had our 2 final shows and then I was done, a nice long lye in was waiting for me in my cosy bed. But oh no! This is Row we're talking about here, who can't sit still a minute without trying to be useful and do something. So the next series of posts will show you some more Miss Row Bow style as I had another week at the local Primary school. The fun never ends!

As well as shopping in the Accessorize christmas sale, I also went to the Kylie sale at M&Co. I did look a little weird trying on a whole selection of garments in the changing room, while a couple of 8 year olds were eyeing up the necklaces. But hey ho, I did manage to find a pretty dress for Row. When I put the dress on the butterfly print didn't immediately jump out at me. This is good as it means that nobody else will guess the dress is from the kids section! See if you can find some special purchases from the Kylie section on M&Co online here.

I did a bit of a Beyonce today. "I just woke up liek dis, Flawless", HeHe! (Intentional spelling of like). I went to bed with my hair tied in a bun and literally woke up like this and headed out my door. As gross as that sounds, because the bun had wriggled over to the side of my head it looked quite lovely. It earned my several compliments. I kept my make up minimal and had a little bit of lippy in a pretty baby pink tone.

So we all know I loved the Clean Bandit tune with Jess Glynne, Rather Be. Now she's hopped onto another track but this time with Route 94. It's called My Love and its got a funky smooth, dancey beat.

Red Meow!

Hey Guys!

Today we had 2 shows at work, which entails a quick 45-60 break for dinner and a breather then back on round 2 of make-up duties! I discovered what an Anti-Pasti was today, and decided I rather liked it.  It feels so fancy with different meat and salad all laid out on a snazzy dish. My new fave, and it can be quite filling too.

This dress is very stylised, with the bold leopard print collar and pockets, so it can be tricky to show diversity in the styling of it. However, behold, I have added a new colour into this look to create a new style. Pinning the big red heart clip in my hair could appear a little mis-matched, but with the red strawberry necklace and red lippy it all tied in quite nicely. I've also worn the dress here , does it look any different?
