Neon Nail Rave

Hey Guys!

This is quite a strange little post. I was approached by a mysterious woman, dressed in black while shopping in Brent Cross Shopping centre the other day. She took my hand and gazed at it for a short moment, then proceeded to attack it with brightly coloured nail polishes...!

Okay, so I may have made that sound a little creepier than how it actually happened. Truthfully, I wondered about the Models Own unique BottleShop and one of the lovely ladies who works there told me all about the wonderful offers. At the time they were doing 6 for £15, which is 50% off! #Amazeballs! I told her that my favourite colour was pink, natch, and that I'm defo a bold coloured kinda girl. So she began adorning my nails with every colour from their Ice Neon collection. The purple (ring finger) and orange (baby finger) are my favourite colours. They are quite different from anything else in my collection. They didn't have a base or top coat on and they actually fared well through out the week

The main reason I wanted to tell you about my snazzy, freebie- one handed- manicure, was because they are currently running a promotion of Facebook at the mo. If the Models Own faceyb page gets 250,000 likes by the 31st January then there will be a super half price sale on all the Models Own items. Holla! I'm up for that! So these nails are just one example of what you can get, if you just tottle over and like the page think of the bargains we can all enjoy together!

I'll just throw it out there, the BottleShop in Brent Cross now has 60% off Sale sign, but I think that might just be little gift packages. Also, who likes the UV effect lighting I've got going on. I'm so clever with my camera, HeHe!

Little Vampy Row

Hey Guys!

Ooooh, a little bit of a vampy look from Row today. To be honest I think that any outfit with a slick of deep purple lipstick looks vampy. I've had this dress since summer, but I haven't worn it to work once! This is quite astonishing because I normally test out every look at work before I try it out in the real world.

This dress is such a pretty colour, a beautiful pinky plum colour. Which totally matches the deep lipstick. I've teamed the dress with a think black belt and black tights and cardi, to match the little caped pleather sleeves. I may have made a New Years Trip into Accessorize and stumbled upon their sale section. I always think the they have the best sales as the straight away have a 70% sale on. I bought this classic pearl necklace for a massive £1.80! I know Row Bow is a big spender! I tied up the top section of my hair which I think gives a different look to just pining back.

Lea Michele has been on our screens as Rachel Berry for the past couple of years, but now she has spread her wings and is gearing up to release her own original material. Her debut album Louder is due out later in the year with a collection of darn catchy tunes. Although not as meaningful as Rachel Berry's hit My Headband (hehe!), Battlefield is my current fave. Cannonball is the official single with music video released, a lovely power ballad. The title track Louder is a little bopper than the aforementioned.

Ladylike in Lace

Hey Guys!

Compared to the previous performance look, this one is much more tone down. I dare say it looks a little ladylike actually. More crazy lighting and picture quality to follow. You love it really!

The look is super simple really, but it is the first actual outing for the beautiful mint lace skirt I'm sporting. I wore it here but I didn't actually get to parade this about anywhere, since the heavens opened on that day. The skirt is in a medium so it sits a little lower than my skirts usually do. I'm a fan of waisted and high-waisted skirts, if you hadn't noticed! However, I do like the way that because this one rest lower down it does elongate my figure slightly. The body-con, navy dress that I'm wearing as a top underneath clings, so flatters my top half. But because the contrast in colour occurs lower down than my waist it makes me look ever so slightly taller. I kept the navy colour for my jacket because I think black tights and a black card would have appeared too dark. Also the cropped length of the cardi looks nicer than the looser fitting black cardigan.

I couldn't be totally classy and elegant, I had to get some bling twinkling in my look. The necklace I have chosen reflects the blue and white tones of the light, which goes with the colour pallet of my clothes. My lovely neighbour, who is very excited by my interest and studies in Fashion, kindly gave me a Calvin Klein lipstick around christmas. It is super lush and I'm wearing the subtle reddish-rose tone in these pictures. I've also got on the Nails Ine Matte Nail Polish that she gave me too, the lippy and polish were meant as a pair but she didn't like either= Row begin quids in! I have a little review about the nail polish coming soon. #spoilers

Ella Henderson is my new fave babe. There's no question she is beautiful and has the voice of an angel. I'm pretty such when I sing in the shower I sound exactly the same! I love her slowed down version of Cher's Believe. She gives it a real meaning rather than just dancey dance time. And her own original songs Five Tattoos, Waiting and Missed are pretty spectacular too. I'm sure we were made to be buddies!

Cat/Bat Woman

Hey Guys!

Today's pictures actually prove that I was working and had actually made it to the theatre! It's a little tricky to get the white balance all good in the hood, hence the yellow tone to todays photos. But you can still clearly see what I am wearing which is the main thing.

I feel this look is quite higgldy-piggldy as theres a lot going on. Not a usual style for Row Bow. I really wanted to whip out my Batman skirt as I hardly ever wear it now due to "unforeseen circumstances" lets call it... Previously I wore it with a dark navy top, but here I have picked up on the pink tones and teamed it with a bold pink vest top. The green cardi felt like a bit of a random last minute grab and go piece. But I actually think it works well with the whole outfit. Probably because green and red go well together and pink is a different tone of red and the rainbow of colours on my skirt gives a more lenient colour pallet. I think that the look needed something like an 'anchor' kind of colour. I've called it an anchor colour (which sounds a little weird but I can't think what else to call it !) because the green kind of sinks the colour scheme. It holds the look together and finishes it off nicely as it stops the combination of clothes getting too girly and airy fairy. I suppose you could refer to it as an accent colour but that gives me the idea that it lifts the outfit, whereas I'm talking about holding down the look. *Tangent over, if that made any sense to anyone reading let me know, HeHe!*

The skirt also has a selection of orange tones so that made it really easy to choose golden jewellery and accessories. I got my bling fix with the chunky golden chain necklace, which has a fluro-pink tiny chain running through it matching to the top. And who doesn't love a good pair or floral cat ears?

Shakira and Rihanna's collab Can't Remember to Forget You is a pretty decent tune in my books. I love the unexpected start, it reminds me of the circus and isn't at all what I would expect from with a Shakira or Rihanna song. But then it goes a little rockier in the chorus. I can defo imagine a good Zumba sesh dancing to it!

Easy as ABC

Hey Guys!

Day Two of my intense week at work was the first show in front on a live audience (Can I get an 'ooooooh'? Real Pantomime stylee). I was pretty intense as it was the first time I'd know how much time I truly had to run about collecting children from hear there & everywhere and get them on stage in time. I started off being really premature and calling kids waaay to early, nervy Row. But by the end of the week the Stage Manager (or the lady with the ears as the tiddly-wees call her) was calling them with pages to spare too. I just have that effect on people!

I hardly ever wear this dress and it has such a lovely print that it really deserves to get out a little more. The monochrome pallet means that it will pretty much go with any coloured top and any style of top underneath. I've show you guys how I Rocked a Crop , been Rockabily Row in it AND gone all Starry Eyed in it. But here I have created my most wintery styling yet, with a bold pink long sleeves top. I got the top for christmas so it was bound to make an appearance on the blog within weeks of being received. Its so simple but because it is such a large block of bold colouring I think it makes a great look. The warm tones of the top made me go for a warm, golden pendant. A little bit of Tinkerbelle's fairy dust helped me keep things running smoothly at work, I'm sure.

Finally, I'm back in the swing of searching for new music and not christmas songs still, #guilty! I have heard of Clean Bandit before, from a friend but I didn't think it would be my thing as the friend likes 'cool' music. And as we know I love my musical cheese! Their song Rather Be featuring Jess Glynne is a quite dancey, but with Jess' more indie voice. Whilst flicking through the music channels last week it came on like 4 times in half an hour, that's how good it is!

Dress Run Antics

Hey Guys!

It seams like forever ago that I worked at the theatre, we had the dress run 29th December. All that time ago! I didn't really know how much I would be running about or lifting or attending to small children's shoe laces, so I felt leggings would be the best attire. As much as I love these leggings, I don't feel there are many occasions where I can whip them out. Last time I posted about the was here, when I bought them over summer. I kept the look very light there. But here I have picked up some of the darker tones, the few that exist, on the leggings. The purple top is a set with a vest and sheer crop top. The necklace compliments the colour pallet so nicely. I LOVE my Christmas sale purchases from Accesorize. It was still £11, which is very steep for me with jewellery but I had to have it! The perspex base with pretty pastel coloured jewels is a style I've had my eyes on for aaaggggees. I swear they were super popular a year or two ago and I always missed out.
I decided to add my dark blue cardigan as tonally it goes with the purple side of pink I had gone for. But also because it was the 29th of December people, and it was ruddy freezing and very wet!

Recent Fragrance Direct Purchases

Hey Guys!

Welcome to the second edition of Row buying Christmas presents for herself. This time my little adventure took me to Fragrance Direct. I always end up there if I'm online window shopping, but finally I took that step to click that buy button!

First I bought myself a new proper, full-size, perfume. I've been living off small sample sized sprays for 3 years and I thought I should probs get an actual bottle of something. I loved the smell of Viva La Juicy and have savoured my last drops. But Pairs Hilton's Siren is an outstanding dupe for the smell. On Fragrance Direct it is a fifth of the price of a bottle o' Viva La Juicy! Lush or what!

Next I moved onto an investment EVERY curly bounce girl raves about, Moroccan Argan Oil. I'm am sooo late on this bandwagon I wasn't sure there was any point in me trying to catch up. But my hair screamed out for it when the price was £1.99 for the bottle. Fab-u-losity! Although it isn't the real Moroccan Oil, because thats way more expensive, it still leaves my hair uber soft. But the curls do take a little longs to set in. Like the next morning.

Yonks ago, before they had their break which was before they broke up, Girls Aloud did a little mini series which saw 4 out of the 5 girls pursue a fun interest. Cheryl did dancing with will.i.am (look where that got her!), Kimberly performed at the end of Les Mis in the West End (again, what has she been doing recently?) and Sarah learned to play polo on horseback (not so useful in her career post-girls aloud). This may seem like a little divert in the post, but I am getting somewhere with this point! My fave gal Nicola decided to go on a mission to set up her own make-up range for very pale/ fair skinned girls. She developed the idea from personal experiences at make-up counters. Years after I set my heart on getting some, I am finally the proud owner of some Dainty Doll Products. I got an eyeshadow in Cobocabana (?) which is a very pale brown, but it has great coverage. Also, the Double Ended Mascara and Liquid Eyeliner slipped into my shopping cart as well as a lovely deep blue eyeliner. I adore the packaging, it makes the products seem so luxurious even thought they were all under £2 EACH!

Recent VIVO Purchases

Hey Guys!

Just before Christmas I decided, after a good first term at Uni, I deserved to treat myself to a little Christmas present. I also needed some more mascara then these additions just 'fell' into my shopping cart! I toddled off to Tesco to pick up my fave mascara, VIVO Curve Effect, only to find that THEY DON'T STOCK IT ANYMORE! Whut?! How could Tesco do this to me? My big Tesco now stocks BarryM in it's place. But I can get BarryM from Boots. Can I get VIVO from Boots? Urmm...I think you'll find the answer is no. Hurumph, not a happy Row Bow.

But then what do you know, VIVO have a website and all faith is restored. Phew! So as well as my must-have mascara I managed to add few other goodies to my shopping cart. I also decided to pick up a dark silver glitter eyeliner. I used to wear glitter eyeliner all the time, but I don't so much any more. I find sometimes the glitter can be a bit thin on the ground, so you have to layer it up to make an impact. This VIVO one is actually pretty decent, I think the darker tone helps, and it glides on really nicely. Then we move onto lip products. Surprisingly I didn't pick up any new lipsticks. Instead I chose 2 lip glosses. I'd like to start wearing lip glosses more as they're not as bold as my lipsticks but still feel a little snazzy. I picked up Essence Shade 7 Lip Gloss (tall red one) and a Colourwash Lipgloss in the colour Setting Sun. The Orange Lip is a big beauty trend this Spring/ Summer season and I am so ready for it!

Left to Right: Essence Shade 7 Lip Gloss, Setting Sun Colourwash Lietting Sun, Liquid Eye liner Glitter Black Shade 1
Mmmmm...Lovely wrinkly hands!

Blogger's Beauty Box Swap

Hey Guys!

Way back in early November Nyss from Miss Nyss Beauty Magpie had an idea to set up a blogger's beauty box swap. You may have seen on Sam's blog, Strawberry Squeeze , that she had been partnered up with the wonderful Row Bow! The guidelines were £15 maximum spend and you could fill the box with any of your favourite beauty products. I appeared to have totally forgotten the box part of the challenge, so sent Sam's goodies off in a brown package. Sorry Sam!
Who wants to find out what Sam bought me? Read on...

I was such a lucky girl to have a beauty box swap with someone like Sam. She showered me with gifts and really made the most with the budget! First is a can of Colour Extreme Pink Hair Spray. Pretty cool and super for temporarily switching up your hair for an evening shindig. So...? Sinful has a lovely combination smell of vanillary chocolate with floral tones. (Oh fancy!) A nice bold yellow beautyuk nail polish will be a welcome addition to my prominently pink polish collection. Chocolate Santa- it wouldn't be Christmas without one!

A lovely set of make-up brushes which will be great now to have a set for my home home and a set for my Uni home. The compact mirror and toe separators go so well as a set with the brushes due to the glistening grey and sparkling silver colourings.

Perfect packets of White Chocolate Face Mask, Peppermint Tea Leaves, Virgin Olive Oil Day Cream and a Braw Bar.

The Eye Primer from beautyuk was a much needed addition to my make up collection. Hopefully now I will have luscious long lasting make up. The bath bomb smells beautifully floral. Looking forward to having a relaxing bath with that. A colourful skull bracelet will jazz up my outfits over the darker wintry season. Chocolate Coins- another feature Christmas wouldn't be complete without!

I'd like to say a massive thanks to Sam for being such a super beauty box swap partner and also to Nyss for organising the whole thing.

Snowflake Nails

Hey Guys!

This new dedicated approach to blogging hasn't made the best start. I've worked every single day since the 29th December 2013 (minus one Thursday), so I feel that is a reasonable excuse! But I have taken photos EVERYDAY of my outfits with What Row Chose... in mind! Now I have finished and am getting myself all ready to head on back to Uni at the weekend.

These were the nails I wore on Christmas day, so the snowflake design appears a little out dated now. But who knows? We may experience a downpour of snow soon. (I jolly well hope not though!) I painted a base in a lovely deep plum colour. I'm not sure about the brand, but I do know Primark has a dupe in the red/purple 4 selection of nail polish packs. The white is so striking against the purple background. I drew a range of snowflake segments with the help of a squeezy tip pen, again from Primark. Don't knock it until you've tried it!

I do have a slight dilemma. I can never get my nail polish to last un-chipped for more than a day. How rubbish is that! I used to use a Natural Collection clear polish as a base and top coat. But I've now got a Nails Inc one which I thought would be better as it's pricier. But it's just as awful. I am an arty student so I thought this might be why. Surely there must be a brilliant base coat and terrific top coat I can invest some money in. Any ideas?

The new Ke$ha and Pitbull song it totally my jam! I like to sing the Ke$ha parts and my little sister take the Pitbull rap. She only really knows the odd word. But I don't think we're going to tire of it anytime soon, so she's got time to learn. Soz the Row Bow household!

Winter Wonderland

Hey Guys!

First of all Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and had a great time celebrating New Year. Now on with the post (Lots of photos coming up)...

On the last day of term, after a super empty lecture, me and my bud Roxy made another Row 'n' Rox/ Rox 'n' Row adventure. We decided to take a trip to Winter Wonderland, since I've never been and now I'm living in London it would be rude not to! We first got their at about half 2 and sorted out some stuff out for about half an hour. (Basically we're your gals if you ever lose your Oyster Card, Hehe!)

A Pretty Landscape of Winter Wonderland on a Winters Afternoon.
By the time we'd done a massive loop de loop of the a whole bus route we finally arrived at the front gate of Winter Wonderland! Straight away we went to by tickets with the Magical Ice Kingdom so see what that was all about. Then we milled about the cutsie market stalls all about Hyde Park. Nothing grabbed our attention fantastically, but there were some very pretty things. We made it to one of the eating/drinking/singing/Christmas tree areas and got some lovely strangers to take a quick pic of us.

Row 'n' Rox!
We also decided to go to the Berserk Circus (it was called something like that). It was a little more high octane than the kids show, but there was still a hella a lot of kids there. Ohemgee! It was totes amazeballs. So good! The every act was really intense and repeatedly left me in awe. There were leapfrogs happening 10 feet in the air onto a tightrope, people literally flying in the air and a little bit of pole dancing too #cheeky. Roxy decided it's a life in the circus for her if fashion doesn't work out! I LOVED the trapeze duo who also cracked out the big metal spinner thing which had each of them stand in a circle either side of the metal spinny bit. (Woah-My descriptions are on point today!)

Nice Pic Row! NOT
If you look really hard behind the big light you can see the trapeze artists.

The Magical Ice Kingdom was full of snow and ice sculptures, including an actual castle with a slide!

OOTD: Red Dress- Dorothy Perkins, Leggings, Leopard Print Boots-Primark, Coat-Tesco
Not that any of them are from this seasons collections...
I had such a great evening out and I think Winter Wonderland is open until January 5th so I would defo recommend a trip down there!

Always time for a quick goodbye selfie!
