Denim Cutie

Hey Guys!

I'm not usually one for wearing denim jeans. Even in winter, I'll only crack them out if all my leggings are in the wash and I have no other warm pieces to wear. I feel really restricted in them and I feel like have to constantly adjust them. However, I can be partial to a denim shirt or two.

This treat was from Matalan a couple of years ago. Pretty sure I went in there to look for a present for someone, but came out with armfuls of presents for me. Whoopsie Daisy! It's quite different from a standard denim shirt because of the fancy should detailing. The pairing of the floral design and particular tone of denim remind me of a cowboy, western shirt. Feeling like I look ready for a rootin', tootin' time at the O.K coral... Well, I would if I didn't have the pretty pink skirt and cardigan on. I like the contrast of the tougher shirt with the effortlessly girly pink, lip print shirt. Just to mask any inkling of masculinity the shirt hints towards, I added a pretty head scarf which I wrapped around my head into a big bow and also slapped on the bright pink lipstick!

Doesn't it Feel Like Christmas?

Hey Guys!

Being a student, there are customary things that one must achieve throughout the year. Getting the house to work as one cohesive Halloween look, the monthly meal of Cheerios for dinner because you've run out of money (again) and fooling everyone into thinking you're a brain box by making it to graduation are just a few examples. Another is holding a Uni House Christmas Dinner. See my post from last year's dinner here! This year we had a lovely piece of Ham cooked my Hannah, who actually cooked the whole shenanigan from scratch. Although, I did contribute by making some monster Yorkshire Puddings. I was swigging away at the Bucks Fizz at the time, but I'm pretty sure that had nothing to to with it...

Not gonna lie, I did try and pose for a few of the piccys hoping that I could use one or two to show you my outfit! The dress is from Primark, and as soon as I clocked eyes on it I knew it had to be re-homed in my wardrobe. The top looks separate from the skirt, but it's all attached with a chiffon fabric down the centre. It is a smidge too big but since I was so smitten with it, I was willing to put in the fort to alter it. Notice how I said was, I haven't actually done that yet. Whoops! Red is such a chirstmassy colour I coloured in my lips too. I decided to match the pretty pearls in my hair with a pearly necklace too.

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals!

All I Want For Christmas is a Pretty Dress

Hey Guys!

All I want for christmas isssssss... a pretttyyy dreeeessssss.

This pretty dress to be precise. And lucky for me I bought it in a recent splurge online at Choies. I love the school girl style the dress hollas. The shoulders and collar echo the features that accompany a pinafore (I'm also on the hunt for one of those too!). Because the dress is so unique and striking on its own, its quite tricky to really push the styling around it. I felt that keeping it simple was the best way to go by adding black accessories. Black tights, black shoes, black bow and black cape. I love the drama the cape adds. The collar peeks through so daintily. It's just a shame the buttons don't quite match up to their designated button holes... That's what you get when you scrimp on everything. #CheapThrills!

I kept my hair down in loose curls and combined a tan nude lipstick and a red-hued nude lipstick to create the perfect rosy tone.

Dots + Stripes

Hey Guys!

I think it's pretty obvious that I didn't wear this outfit the other day, given the breezy weather here in old Blighty. But here at What Row Chose... we like to bring the brightness and sprinkle the sunshine! I wore this ensemble to work, at the theatre group. I think it's suitably slouchy yet snazzy. It's the best way to be!

This Bardot style top featured in my little Choies haul. It comes in one size, which means that the top fits really nicely. I think this feature works really well in contrast with the big baggy, polka dot plazzo pants. The top and trouser combo is predominantly black and white, but there is a hint of pretty pink on the trews. So naturally, I've chosen to pick up these tones with some lippy and scrunchie work. Because of the gorgeous lace trim on the top, the outfit didn't need blingy jewellery.

Because I haven't posted regularly in so long, I feel like there are waaayy too many new songs you NEED to hear about. The first being Fifth Harmony's infectiously catchy, Sledgehammer. I'll admit, the title doesn't sound the most softly, softly, love-dovey title. But man, once you hit the play button the first time, you will not be able to stop pressing it. The girls belta voices, especially Camilla's, sing a powerful chorus over subtle background ohhhhhss and wooooos. In the video the girls are all dressed in a heavenly white and it looks super effective with the silhouette shots that feature. If you couldn't tell I'm desperate to be the Sixth Harmony, pleeeeease!

What do you think of my slouchy yet snazzy outfit?

My Living Room Style

Hey Guys!

So today's post is a little different but I know you'll love it just the same! Modani is a modern furniture store specializing in contemporary and modern furniture (obvz). I've decided to use some of their pieces to create a living room design which reflects my own style. I would have loved to put this together on Photoshop, because I would have gone all fancy and made it signature Row Bow! But I am pretty chuffed with this outcome too.

Every outfit needs a stand out, centre piece and that also applies to every living room. Being a popular babysitter, I see many a living rooms and I happily pick out successful feature pieces I dream of having in my own living room one day. Personally, I love a good corner sofa! I think they present a great use of space and adds an all- encompassing feel to the room. If you like the one I've chosen, you can check out Modani's full collection of modern sofas. Much like a beautiful dress which you add accessories to, a sofa is what I'd design the rest of my room around. This comfortable white design looks elegant when accompanied by silver and white decorative pieces, like the fairytale-esque mirror and coat stand. Very Row Bow! I chose other pieces to go in the room that keep the sofa's clean and slick presentation, to reflect my own love of smart and classic outfit silhouettes. As a secondary colour to my living room design I went with a classic choice of black. This comes through with the lights, simple bookshelf and dark cushions and rug. Just like with an outfit, you should try to avoid decorating all in one colour, hence a secondary colour. Then you can add the fun and thrills with a bold, pretty accent colour. Ohhh, I love an accent colour. And naturally, what colour could I chose other than a vivid pink?! I think cushions are a great way to subtly, yet stylishly, add a contrasting colour. I love the 'LOVE' cushions and the pink ones thrown into the mix makes it real cute. I might personalise the cushions to say 'Row Bow' though...
All I need is a beautiful fireplace with a toasty fire going, and I'd move straight in!

How do you think I did? What would be your centre piece?

NFL Fanatic!

Hey Guys!

I'm not going to jump into this post pretending that I really know anything at all about NFL. But what I do know is how to style a cute outfit! I've decided to style a game-day look based upon an NFL jersey. Since the team names mean absolutely nothing to me, I based my decision purely around the colour combinations of each sports top. Was I to go for the rich reds of the San Francisco 49ers? Or perhaps cool green of the Philadelphia Eagles? Nope, neither of those made the cut. For me, the brilliant navy, white and grey team colours of the Dallas Cowboys was the winning choice. Also with a team name that includes the work 'Cowboys' how could I not support them?! I think that this jersey would be really versatile because of the colourings. Therefore, you could create a new look every time you watched them play! Isn't that what every sports fan dreams of?

Now I've done a little research for my newly found team so here are some must-know facts for newbies of the game:
-Most importantly their team mascot is called Rowdy, although apparently not so frequently spotted nowadays, it's hard to miss his gigantic-sized grey cowboy hat emblazoned with the Cowboy's signature star logo.
- The Dallas Cowboys have been established for 54 years, which is more than twice the time I've been alive for.
- From what I gather, during the 2014 season they have won 9 games which makes it a winning season. Their first since 2009. Woohoo!

Well, now that we're all clued up about my babes the Dallas Cowboys I'll show you my game day look. I've put together a little something for if you're planning on having a little NFL sesh in front of the telly. Obvz, I started by including the team top and paired with some jazzy leggings it to make it super comfy. The cosmic print means if you decide to have a little NFL party, you'll look suitably dressed up which can be tricky when wearing a sports top. Since it is December, it can be a ruddy cold, even when snuggling up on the sofa, so these Pom-Pom Ballerina socks are the perfect addition for toasty toes. Because the team jersey is big and baggy, you wouldn't want to squeeze it underneath a small fluffy jumper. So this large see-through knit is ideal so you can still your team number through it. And just to finish off the look, I love this knitted head band with a beautiful scandi print.

So there we go. A wonderful game day ensemble, but an NFL newbie.
What do you think?

Little Transatlantic Choies Haul

Hey Guys!

It has taken me waaay too long to post this, but this education thing is getting a bit intense at the mo. We finished one project and straight away started a new one, which happens to be a live proj meaning it is for an actual brand. 2 weeks to sort myself out for a 10-page shoot! Great! On top of that I'm sorting out an internship for new year. Phew! It's a lot to take on, but I'm powering through.

Here, I present my Choies haul. Originally my order was placed at the end of September, my parcel arrived 3 weeks later. I am thrilled with my purchases and love every single one. I risked it a bit with the sizing but none of them are out by a lot. Although I only bought 4 things this is a pretty decent haul considering it came from America! Think of the postage, people!

I wasn't sure how I'd wear this top because of the large white band across the top. I thought it might wash out my face since it was so large and close to my face, but actually it's totally fine! I feel pretty sophisticated rocking a lace Bardot style top. The top comes in one size and this means that it fits really nicely so a smooth silhouette is formed. The only thing is that the ends of the lace are a little straggly. There's only 4 pieces that have been over-locked so I can just tack them into the lace to hide them.

Finally, a kimono of my own! Strictly speaking it's not an actual kimono, but it is a really nice lightweight jacket which probs would have been better in summer than winter. Oh Well! I was really happy with this since I thought it was a little different to the rest of my wardrobe. It turned out really easy to iron (not that I remembered to for these photos!). But then I found one of the shoulders has 2 gapping holes in where the chiffon has started to fray. This shouldn't be too tricky for a sewing whizz like me to fix, but it's just a little annoying. I'm not sending it back because that would be loooooong, man!

If any of you are as great a sugar enthusiast as myself, I'm sure you'd have been watching Sweets Made Simple over August/September. Miss H had been wearing a marvelous white lip print shirt and I rather fancied one myself. Luckily Choies had one, woohoo! I chose a black version of the top, so it's a little different. I risked a small size in this, forgetting my gangly arms. So it does fit, but they'll be no acrobatic gymnastics from me when wearing it!

Isn't this dress just the cutest?! Spoiler Alert: This will be my Christmas dress. Unless I find something tremendously greater in appearance, which I don't think I will. I love everything about it. It was the main reason I did this little haul from Choies. I'm glad I bought it when I did, with a little 20% off! The beautifully bejewelled collar is detachable, as if I'm ever going to take that off! The bows at the front are a very sweet detail. It is a little on the short side, but a pair of black tights would increase modesty by a small increment!

Do you like any of these pieces? Have you purchased from Choies before? I'd love to know.
