Last Day of School (For Now!)

Hey Guys!
This is the final outfit from my extra week of work at a local Primary school.Sob! But if you fancy catching up on the other posts here they are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. This outfit was for the Friday which is Swimming day. I really liked going swimming with the kids earlier in the year but I had tights on so I got wet feet. I didn't wear tights any other Friday I was there, just in case they wanted me to go again. But I had completely forgotten and just my luck I went swimming again with my tights! I don't actually hop into the pool, just supervise around the edge of the pool and keep the minibus driver company. But if you have shoes on you have to put blue shoe covers on, which I thought were waterproof. However, after the session the kids informed me that they are purely to keep the dirt off the floor and not to keep your feet dry. So I ended up with wet soggy tights, nice one Row Bow! Then when we were in the lesson I was paired with the only supplied swimming teacher, who I had been warned was a 'character'. Standing over the other side of the pool she told me she had been staring at my skirt and couldn't work out if it was see through. That's nice isn't it? It's not as if there were small children in the water that you were meant to be keeping an eye on,so they didn't drown or anything! She decided to re-arrange the fabric of the skirt and stare at it again. Not that I really had a choice in the mater. But she finally came to the conclusion that, 'Nope, it;s not see though. You just have thick legs.' Naww, thanks! How flattering! NOT!

I usually try to end of a finale outfit so they remember how gosh-dang awesome I am, but this was literally put together in a morning frenzy! I don't tend to wear an all white ensemble because of my (what can be) verging on luminously pale skin. The combination makes me look a little ghostly, and not in a beautiful ethereal way! But I've added the thick grey tights, green cardigan and orange floral crown (my princess crown as some might say!) to liven up the colours of my look and create a barrier between my skin and the paler clothing. The necklace was my new one from Sister Vintage It might not link so well with the rest of the colours, which are all a little higgledy piggledy anyway, but as per my slick of bright pink lippy finished the look!

Princess in Pink

Hey Guys!
This is my little outfit for the 4th day of my spontaneous week of work experience back at a local Primary School. Today had an afternoon full of the lessons that nobody really enjoys at primary school, R.E and History. Well, I never liked them! For half of the afternoon I was backing up a collection of files to send to a little film maker for a Send my Friend to school proj the kids worked on before summer. Some of my amaze camera-woman skills put to good use in that! So when I came back into the classroom the kids were well under way with their worksheets about history- the Tudors... I think...? A few kiddies from my little group that I'd been working with during Literacy that week, were stuck with the questions and finding their answers. Most of them had managed to make their way onto the second page- which I got the hang of pretty quickly. Pretty chuffed with myself, not gonna lie. But then one little boy from the group was still plodding his way through the first worksheet so I went to help him as the rest listened to the story at the end of the day. I genuinely feel I was making his learning a little easier, but who knows if he's remembered any of it. I haven't!

(In my best Troy Mcclure voice) You may recognise the dress from such posts as So...? Fragrance Event with @Bloggers_Love and I think that's actually the only one so far! But here it is again is a combination more suitable for work. I scrapped my hair up into a sock bun and placed my pretty Prairie Charms bow at the front (like how I styled it in this post). I'm not too sure about the black cardi on top but to keep me warm during the little walk, it does the job. The buckle on the belt it golden to it makes sense to work golden jewellery into the rest of the look. I don't think a long necklace would have worked very well because of the addition of the waisted belt. Also, it might be tricky to work a chunky necklace due to the boat neck. Not impossible, but it would require a good look for the right necklace. I've slicked on a little candy pink lipstick (BarryM Shade 146) which handily matches my hair bow!

I don't know the singer but I am loving this song. It's called Andreas Schuller -Disney Land 2013 on soundcloud (that's where the link goes) but it's so beautiful and majestic and just like how I imagine a Princess at Disneyland would be mixed with a bit of a funky beat! Oh, please SOMEBODY pack me in their suitcase! Understand I only want to go to Disneyland and nowhere else in your suitcase, hehe!

Lavish Alice Wishlist

Hey Guys!
I just couldn't help myself, but it's true what you've heard. I have been online window shopping again! Why put Uni work online? It's faaar too easy to get distracted and misspell the web address and end up on Lavish Alice like I did!

Coincidentally as I stumled upon the Lavish Alice website they are currently having a little competition, so I thought that it would only be rude not to enter! I have made a wishlist of some of my fave items from the shop. There are way too many items that float Row's Boat, but here are a few of the ones I'm spending my student loan on... I mean saving for!

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned my love for Victoria Beckham as a Designer, as a Style Icon, as a Mother and as a flipping amazeballs human being. Maybe I've mentioned this is passing before? I absolutely admire her style as a designer and fashionista, particularly her fondness of collars. It has marginally rubbed off on me too! These dresses from Lavish Alice ooze the elegance of VB with the smart appearance and collars. They include my favorite skirt design, a skater style skirt. I think these would be super cute to wear to a variety of occasions. Uni lecture, College Lesson, Interview, Wedding (maybs not the black one!) or a friendly house party. (Hey, if anyone it thinking about Halloween I can defo see the black dress being great in a Wednesday Adams costume. Add long dark plaits and you are good to go!)

I adore the patterned trousers. I think its because they are uber bold and colorful and reminds me of summer again! I like the white sheer shirt that's teamed with them on the website, but I have been looking for a black version which will be perfect for Christmas parties coming up! Oops, I dropped the C-Bomb! Floral Headpieces, be they crowns, headbands, clips or ties will still be adorning my head throughout the chilly months because I just think they are so snazzy. This one is a little different from the ones in my current collection and would be fab to experiment with.

Finally the shoes. I really like the heeled sandals and defiantly need to welcome a pair into my caboodle (Thank you Mr. Thesaurus!). The only problem is I couldn't decided between regular Black ones that would go with EVERYTHING or the Red ones to add a little 'Pop' to an outfit. So I decided I shall wish for both- only logical solution! The boots would look great with skinny jeans, or leggings or tights but appear durable for the winter season.

Source- And where you can enter!

Cheerleader Swag

Hey Guys!
Another insightful work look here! I’m wearing another one of my new purchases from Karma Clothing. Thoroughly recommend you check them out since everything is so affordable and delivery is amazingly quick!

I’m wearing my Cheerleader oversized top. It prompted one five year old to ask, ‘Have you been to football this morning?’ Considering I start work at 9am, I told her that I didn’t have any time to go to football as well as I’d been asleep. Then she thought I was still wearing my pyjamas! I don’t know, these 5 year olds have no sense of Fashion, HeHe! Then the pianist at work thought I may actually perhaps be a real Cheerleader. I wish! The best I can do is a roly-poly and a star jump.  I wore the red varsity style top with my baseball/varsity jacket. They make a good team, oozing the American football vibe. Ha, Look at me I’m nowhere near beefy enough to even attempt American Football!

I added my golden chunky chain necklace to get more street vibe going on. I’m going to risk it here, bear in mind that I’ve only read one article on this word and I know some people still may find it offensive. So soz in advance! But I would describe the effect of adding the chain necklace and the way it works with the rest of my outfit as a little ‘ratchet’. Oops, there I go, I went and said it! Obvz I don’t really have the whole ratchet affair going on but my little necklace gives a slight nod to the look.

The weather has been so funny recently. Super cold and maybs even foggy first thing in the morning but then nice and sunny and dare I say it warm from lunchtime. So since it was a little muggy when I put this ensemble on I went for leggings to keep me warm. Also I think the top is just a smudge short to wear at work with nowt underneath. I could have worn trainers to continue the sporty theme. But I decided to continue the dark tones of the leggings by wearing my sparkly boots. I haven’t worn these for aggggeees! I guess it’s the first sign winter is on its way.

A Hearty Harvest Festival

Hey Guys!

On my third day at 'work' we celebrated Harvest Festival so I thought I would be a little smarter since it was like an assembly in front of all the parents. Now, I myself don’t mind a quick 20 minutes sesh at church with songs and prayers. But this service went on for an hour and 10 minutes! When you think that there were children from ages just turned 4 to 11, that is a ruddy long time for them to pay attention and even sit for. I was struggling myself, some of the kiddies decided a natter to their mums at the back was more what they wanted to do.  But I did get to belt out some of my fave harvest jams, like, “CONKERS, I’m collecting CONKERS, I’m trying hard to find the biggest and the best!” Insert innuendo where you see fit...

Onto the look. I bought this skirt near the beginning of my summer hols, waaaaayy back in May/June time and was really excited to wear it. But anything I paired it with just looked a bit secretary and less super hip. 'Secretary', I believe is the official dress code for working at a school so I was good to go! The skirt is a really nice shape and sits well when worn. It’s from H&M. I picked out the white and navy tones to complement the rest of my look with the skirt.  The necklace was a thank you gift from one of the teachers when I worked there over summer. The kids were fascinated with it. I don’t find it goes with a lot that I wear, thus haven’t shown it to you guys yet. But I think it sets a little quirky vibe to this outfit. As well as the addition of my large heart shaped clip. The older girls at the school liked that. Pretty sparkles!

Oh, Hey-Hey! Say hello to my (not so) little friend Lily-Dog! She is totes adorbs! Sooooo cute and a huge softy!

Ombre Nails brought to you by Row Bow

Hey Guys!
It feels like forever since I did a little nail tutorial! But fear not, I am back with an ombre nails photo tutorial. It took me forever to find how to do these. Although I’ll admit it’s not as if I actively searched ‘Ombre Nail Tutorials’, I feel that may have very much aided my search.  But Hey Ho! Here’s Row Bow’s tutorial, far superior to any other photo tutorials out there!

You will need:
- 2 contrasting tones of nail polish
- Clear Coat Nail Polish
- Un-used plastic wallet
- Cocktail stick
- Un-used Sponge

1.       Protect nails with a clear coat. (OBVZ)
2.       Apply 2 layers of the paler colour nail polish you are using. I have BarryM Papaya.

3.       This is where it gets technical kids! Apply a couple of drops of each nail polish next to each other on the plastic wallet. See my very little example  in the photo below.

4.       Then use the cocktail stick the very slightly marble the two colours where they join. So until they blend into one another.
5.       Grab the sponge and place a clean part of it into the slightly marbled polish mixture.

6.       Lightly press the sponge over your nail being mindful of where you want the blend of colours to be. If you press down the colour just doesn’t appear to transfer. I like wearing the darker colour at the top of my nail.
7.       Boom! Ombre nails, or ombre nail if you’ve not repeated the process 9 additional times yet!

I also crated these ombre nails on my sister. Perhaps another colour way suggestion?

Fun Idea: Why not ombre the colours the opposite way round on your ring finger, for a little ring-finer manicure?
Glad to be of service!

Tartan Tuesday

Hey Guys!

Ready for day two of more school work? Thought you were! Today I had a pretty uneventful day compared to all the bread making yesters. Defo more of a runing errands for the teacher while the kids did P.E kind of day. Everytime I came back the teacher was like, 'Are you done already? Woah! You're the most efficient person ever!' Well, what can I say? I do try, I guess its the Row Bow charm! I spent the morning working with the same gaggle of children I worked with yesterday morning. They were writing recounts about their recent school trip and I was really getting into it. I reckon I could have written my own account by the end of the week. It would be such an exciting read, considering I didn't even go!

I’m wearing another piece from my Karma Clothing order, the Tartan Dress. Tartan is a MAJOR trend for this Autumn/Winter Season and if you're not feeling brave enough for trouser plastered in the print then a dress is a good alternative. I love the prints with a bold red background as I think I'm definitely a red kind of person compared to other popular tartan colour combos like blue and green. The black print on the red dress easily allows you to accessories the rest of the look with black pieces. I went with black tights, dolly shoes and a wide elasticated waisted belt. I chose such a wide belt because as I mentioned in my Karma Clothing haul post, the back of the dress is quite baggy and the width of the belt is ideal for holding me all in and all together! The dress has small shoulder pads swith gives a really nice, solid structure around the neckline. I think it works particularly well because it sets up a straight horizontal lines for the vertical lines of the tartan print to follow on from. If that made any sense to anyone, because in my head it's totally logical! I added a reasonably short granny pearl necklace and a large silver antique-inspired ring. I think that these little additions give a kind of vague granny-chic vibe, but only slight as it is still pretty modern compared to a typical granny ensemble.

I even joined in with the netball club with the addition of my little white spiked trainers. The kids thought they were pretty wicked!

Last lunch with the Chums

Hey Guys!
I had one last meet up Lunch with my closest chums at the beginning of September. Instead of what I actually wore I have a few pictures of what I wanted to wear. I had to walk there in the pissing rain and got drenched even though I whipped out the rain mac AND the umbrella. 30 minutes in the rain all by myself and when I get there an old bus buddy had driven to the shops opposite and arrived literally just as I did. Sod Law or what?!
When I did get there we had a nice catch up and talked lots about Uni, leaving, returning, buggering off to America and the like. For lunch we made our own Pizzas. Totally from scratch, including the dough. It was an eventful lunch making. It was suggested we 'drizzled' olive oil over the pizzas. But as each one of us tired to show our own technique we all ended up drenching our pizzas in olive oil. Personally, I thought I was onto a winner by pouring the oil onto a spoon but then I giggled and missed the spoon COMPLETELY! They still tasted good.

I wore tobacco chinos and my white neon striped jumper from Kylie. But had it have been a nice day/ I had got a lift I’d have gone with this little number. I really wanted to wear this lace design skirt because I bought it when I went shopping with my friend and I wanted to show her what it looked like on without a pair of trousers on underneath. I bought the skirt from the shop Republic in town since it was the last day of the closing down sale. It’s so similar to some of the Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 pieces. Remember when they had the pretty floral lace pieces in an array of pastel colours? #alltimefavecollectionEVER!

Source

It had a small break in the hem of the skirt which was annoying because it meant the fabric was starting to fray. But a little Row Bow magic and I fixed the sucker! The skirt is quite low sung, it doesn't quite sit on my waist more on my hips. That might be the design or the size, either way I’ll make it work. I can imagine wearing the skirt to a Wedding or special occasion like that (I’m willing to be a seat filler!). But for the lunch I would have worn a darker cropped tee. Man, do I love my cropped tops at the moment? Just as the colder weather moves in as well. Nice one Row!

I added a thick gold chain necklace which has florescent pink chain running through it. I thought I would take this out but actually it makes it look pretty unique and special. I’d been looking for a thick chain necklace for a while and New Look was my saviour.

I'm sure you've heard Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine) by Klangkarussell with Will Heard. But how many of you have heard the acoustic version? I'm taking the one with Cara Delevingne. It's soo pretty. Cara is actually a decent live vocalist. I encourage you to check that out!

Bread Making Barbie

Hey Guys!

Boy have I missed you guys! I’ve been detached from the internet for over a 2 weeks now and I feel totally disconnected from the blogging community. Quick refresher: I’m Row Bow and I love to blog about what I wear and when I wear it. I’m on twitter @rowbowk and bloglovin’. Phew! I hope you haven’t totally forgotten about me! The reason I have been removed from online sociality is that Row Bow has finally grown a pair of balls about moved out of her family home. Scary stuff, bet you never thought you’d see the day! But after staying at home for an extra year last year Mumma Bow finally decided enough was enough and I had to get my own life. I’ve not moved far, just to London to start at Middlesex University. She can’t get rid of me that easily! But before I migrated to the capital I had an extra week at home after all my buds had moved back to their respective Universities. “What should I do with my time and make the most effective use of it?” I thought to myself. A massive cowinkydink was that the primary school I worked at over summer, wanted helpers for bread making on the Monday so I offered my services. I managed to get myself working the whole week there. Ya Boo!

I kept my first look very low key and simple because I didn’t know if I was going to be able to stay the whole week and wanted to look caj. I was only going to be bread making you have to remember. I think this colour pallet combo works really well, white, pink and yellow. I tucked the Barbie top into the skinny trousers to get a bloused effect with look really flattering if your tummy isn’t flat and all toned up, รก la Row Bow. The brown belt add a nice bit of definition to the lose appearance to the top. My cardi is another purchase from Kylie from my summer haul. The trousers are actually Kylie also, a couple of seasons ago.

The bread? Well, we had 2 hours to get nearly 100 children to each make their own roll of bread. And of course they all wanted a go mixing and kneading the dough. We did cheat very slightly by using pre-made mixtures which you just add water to. I tried one at home without a food mixer and man that stuff gets messy!

I added a little black blazer, to experiment. And I kind of felt a little VickyB vibe going on with the bloused top and blazer. Not so much with the yellow trousers!
