Galaxy Nails

Hey Guys!
From the title of this post I expect you're hoping to see some pretty spectacular things. But as hard as I tried, the nails didn't turn out are marvellous as I'd hoped. But hey ho, I'll tell you how to get them anyway, then you can try and out do me. I dare you!
I found a tutorial from YouTube, as I normally do! The technique is a little like dry marbling, which I've posted about previously here. I did the norm of base coat and 2 layers of base colour, then top coat. But in this design when the top coat is wet still apply a few (3) little drops of another coloured nail polish to the tip of your nail. Then drag these drops towards your cuticle, but only at most a third of the nail down. This design works best with 3 colour shades and then a white nail polish. Use the darkest polish colour for these first drops. Don't make the dots too big otherwise you have lots to mix afterwards. But not too little either otherwise they wont be able to blend as well. When these drops  are still pretty wet (they should dry a little as you drag them since you are thinning the drops out) apply the mid tone of your colours, in the same dotted way the darkest colour was applied. But scatter the dots in different places, it's O.K to go over the dark ones. Spice things up, live a little! Repeat this process with your last colour and white nail polish. The white polish is to almost add an accent so don't be as dollop friendly with this one.
With purple and blur shades it should look night sky/ galaxy like. But as you see, it's not as easy as it sounds!

Neat French Manicure

Hey Guys!
With all this snow, I've become totally snowed in! And being shut off from any outside world interaction, what else am I meant to do but... paint my nails?! This is my neatest attempt of a french manicure ever. So I'm chuffed with the outcome. I paint the white tips free hand, but you can get stick on guides, or alternatively make your own. But that's a lot of faff, and I'm pretty ambidextrous with a nail polish brush. I use a Peach Manicure colour for the pinky base as it makes my natural nail colour appear little brighter and healthier.
Afterwards I painted over the white tips with a glittery polish. Just to spruce things up. Ta Dah!

Working in Tribal

Hey Guys!
This is a little work look I cooked up late last year. It's a mix or smart, relaxed and tribal. Funky! I put together a little look similar to this, but much smarter in my Job Interview post here.
The base colours of the image are black and white. This fits in nicely with the monochrome trend which is sooo now! The accent colour is the purple in the print of the skirt. It makes the look brighter and happier, and I like a little fun in my outfits. I'm pretty chuffed with myself for finding the belt which I have incorporated into the look. It is a very wide belt which is elasticated around the back and has a large square buckle. I think that, although it visually chops my outfit in half and therefore me in half too, it some how elongated the look. Without the belt there is a large block of pale colours going on in the top and skirt. The belt breaks that black to create 2 separate blocks which are further apart from each other. Also the gap between the black belt and leggings is enough to remove the factor which would make me look short. The length of the skirt works well for this idea.
I have appeared to break the "No Black and Brown" rule. But, hey ho, I don't think it looks too hideous with my brown boots in the outfit.
I put on a little pale red lippy to glam up the look which works nicely to break the black, white and purple trend I've got going on. I decided to wear my fringe to each side of my face, which doesn't look so bad in the right image since it lays flatter on my face. But in the left image it looks a little round, making my forehead look pretty hench! Can't win 'em all!

Christmas Present

Hey Guys!
I thought I'd show you what i made my Friend for Christmas. It was really affordable and when gifts are handmade it makes them a little more personal. I made her a (Drum Roll)... A Ring-Bracelet Combo! Literally addicted to them currently, since I made one for myself over summer. I wear them to Uni sometimes and always get comments on how special they look. My friend is into unusual and interesting rings quite heavily so I thought what better than another one to add to her collection. I know she's been taking a fancy to mine, I can tell! Or maybe she was just distracted as I always fiddle and play with my jewellery when I've got new things on!
I bought an eye catching ring to base the piece on. Because this is the centre piece of the item, its important to get something snazzy. It's probably the most expensive piece of the whole thing. And rings are inexpensive themselves anyway. The chain is from a broken, heavily reduced necklace. It had a large plastic musical not on, so now I've got a spare one on those which is what I've always wanted! I always pick up the bargain necklaces so I have lots of spare chains.
I started by working out the wrist size and cut the chain with jewellery pliers. Its important to keep the clasp on, as otherwise you'll make more work for your self trying to re-attach it. But the clasp will usually fit into any of the other metal loops so it's O.K to cut them off. If you measure around the wrist with the clasp effectively being "1" then that is the start of your wrist measurement. Give a little extra length so the jewellery is slightly loose. Otherwise the wearer will struggle to do anything practical when wearing it! Then I made the bottom 2 triangles attaching the spare chain halfway around the circle on one side. Then produced a zig-zag shape and attached the 3rd join at the other side of the wrist.
The dark circle is the wrist measurement of chain and the pale grey lines are the zig-zag shape you've created. Much easier in these little drawings so step 2 results in this shape. The ring is displayed by the arrow. So the lilac lines are pieces of chain which attach the ring to the bracelet part. A new lilac triangle is created by attaching the chain to join the top points of your first triangles and leading them up to the ring. The ring I chose has holes in it which makes it easy to attach jump rings and the chain. The third drawing shows the red circles as being the jump rings so you can work out how many you need and where they go.
This was how I wrapped it up. Pretty fiddly because I didn't want it to get all tangled up before she unwrapped it!

I'm so creative, it hurts. Hehe!

Final Show Day

Hey Guys!
I've final reached the end of a very busy and tiring week. But it was super fun, pros and cons and all! This was my razzmatazz outfit to round off a week of hard work to look presentable every day. I'll admit I let my guard down on Friday, but it was still a well coordinated look.
This was the second barg that I picked up from the Kylie sale. Its an all-in-one play-suit, top and shorts. Disappointingly, I will admit that my cutie of a booty is not the same size as a 13 year-olds any more. So that makes whipping it on and off more of a tactical process that takes some planning. The top is made of chiffon, which at seams is easily worn and holes in these style of tops are common.  When I tried on the piece I noticed the hole. When I went to the till to buy it I told them about the damage and I got a 10% discount. Result! You'll find that if you buy any damaged goods and tell them about it at the till, you'll get at least 10% off. This is great for super scrimpers like me, especially if you can fix the problem super easily yourself- which I did. I'm a dab hand with the old sewing machine don't cha' you know!
I kept the colours very simple and mainly used the black to build the rest of my outfit from. Apart from the dark purple and blue head band, which I put in because it looks pretty! I don't really have a black bow in the same size, and I only wanted a little something to juzz it up a little. The red lippy was a panic decision as I left the house. Because I was soo annoyed that i forgot the lippy yesters, I chose to pick up a selection to take with me today. I ruled out the deep purple as it was a little OTT for the look. The pale pink was a little shimmery for my fancy that day, so it had to be the pale red.
I pinned up my hair at the back to create a more pronounced top to my pony tail, but it appears to have deflated. With my lushus long hair now, creating volume and keeping it neat is a lot easier.
Shaz-am!

Vampy Goth

Hey Guys!
Today we had 2 shows in one day, so I'm super knackered now and we have to do it all again one last time tomorrow! I'll soldier through, like the tough cookie I am. HeHe! Really annoyingly because I got a lift in today and I may have overslept quite significantly, I forgot my Deep Purple lippy and didn't even notice until half way through the day! Silly Me! But I put some on once I got home to show you the whole look I intended to go for today.
I popped into Kylie (M&Co) yesterday and had a quick dash around for any total bargs. I really liked this dress when I first saw it as part of the new collection but I'm a cheap skate to I told myself I'd wait until the sales. I did and it paid off, Whay-hey! I love the simple skater style shape of the dress because I think it has just enough girlishness in the swishy skirt part, but the clingy material makes it a little more gown up. The dress has an empire line band which has some fabric at the back to wrap around and tie at the back to cinch in the dress a little. I L.O.V.E the leopard print collar. I'm developing a little passion for collars on dresses, especially Peter Pan ones! And as we all know, I can never get enough of my Leopard print! I think that its a really eye catching combination of block black colour and the hint of leopard print around the neck.
I kept the rest of my outfit black with tights and black dollie shoes. I probs should have worn a slip underneath, but considering I got up half an hour before my lift arrived and I managed a shower and packed my bag in that time I don't think I did too badly! I don't think that dress would go so well with leggings because it would create a weird shape of block black colouring.
I kept my fringe in and wore my hair bit-up-bit-down so that it wasn't too dark and full around my face. But the tumbling locks added to the goth/vamp look. And obvz I would have added the deep purple lippy to heighten the styling... but I forgot. When I was little I always thought, "What is the point of Purple lipstick? It's not pink and your lips are pink. Therefore you should always wear pink or red lipstick!". But now I'm totally digging purple lippy. I've got a nice little collection building.
Hard Hearted RowBow, The Vamp of...Savannah? Oh, that doesn't really work so well...

Red Letter Trend Setter

Hey Guys!
Like the title of the post? I'm soo poetic! (Although I did have to Google what Red Letter meant-like in Aladdin). It doesn't really make sense, but it sounds great! HeHe! We had a day off yesters and I finally managed to get my head down and write a 2000 word essay. BAM! Started just after 5 and had finished by 8. How'd you like them apples?
Today's look was a lot more toned down, compared to the girly looks of the few previous days. I don't want to make everybody jealous everyday, do I? I want for an autumnal colour pallet with the mustard yellow jumper (Hello again!) and the deep red leggings. I wore a graphic print top underneath which included the same tones within its design.
I had tights underneath, aswell as perhaps another pair of leggings but whose counting? So I naturally thought it was another occasion to whip out the black dollie shoes. But it looked a little strange. I think because the black appeared way too dark compared to the rest of my outfits colour pallet. So I popped on my brown dollie shoes instead, which blend in much better to the autumnal colour pallet.
Boom!

50's Grunge

Hey Guys!
Another pretty dressy outfit yesterday, but I switched it up a little and went more grunge over girly. I got lots of compliments about the look, even from the little ones! But he said it looked like a China dress- I think that's a good thing? Couldn't decided between 50's and 80's comments. I get the 80's, kind of Madonna look thing and then 50's from the dress.
The dress is currently on sale in Kylie at the mo, and it's only £5. I'm sure I paid at least £10! Oh well! I wore black leggings underneath the dress because it was a little chilly, and the opaque black went well with the graphic scarf print on the dress. I added pink camouflage converse and grey hoodie to add a hint of grunge to my look, instead of pretty pretty which was like sooo the day before! What would have also looked great is a belt where the dress is elasticated around the waist to blouse. I have skinny tan belts which would have worked well, but it doesn't look too naked without it.
For a more modern twist I accessorised with the tied pink head scarf. But it also made my hair look a little 80's.I'm totes devo atm, I've lost my bright pink BarryM lippy! It would have been perfect with this dress, but instead I used a slightly wetter lippy, FAMOUS by Sue Moxley (Never heard of it, it was a freebie at BINTM Live). I like the BarryM one because it's thicker and more paste like which assures me it isn't going anywhere during the day. But I used my pale pink lippy over the top and then added another layer of the bright pink and eventually it set into place for the day. Pretty impressive, as when I've previously mixed two lippies together they wear off super quick!
I had an extra layer of the white cardi for when I'm in between hot and cold. HeHe! This makes the outfit more girly but the converse keep the essence of grunge.

Girly Blue

Hey Guys!
This is a dress that I got for Christmas from my sister. (She had no option, I tried it on in front of her and she had no present idea, so I told her she could get it for me there and then. If you want something doing, do it yourself! HeHe!) Lots of compliments about the dress. Good Times! I wore the paper crane necklace my other sister gave me with this look too. I love putting together an outfit made up of presents, I feel so loved!
Although you're not meant to team dark blue and black, nor are black and brown meant to be seen together, as they are very similar to each other. But when there are fashion rules, sometimes they're meant to be broken. So I chose to work the blue and black colours from the zebra print of the dress and build up the rest of my look from that. The dress has a built in black slip, which means that the tights don't get caught with static to the back of the dress. I chose tights as opposed leggings, because they give the same see through effect of the dress fabric, chiffon. A pair of leggings would have been to opaque and not worked so well. It keeps the whole look light and airy. The cardigan I chose has a knitted design which is quite holey, so again it keeps with the thin material appeal. The belt which is slightly hidden by the blousing of the dress, in th image, has a golden buckle therefor I was restricted the golden accessories. I chose a golden necklace, golden swarvoski crystal elasticated ring and large blue handmade beaded ring. Which upon reflection I've realised is actually made with silver metal. Scandalous, I know! But the beading is so big you'd never be able to tell. My Mum beaded the ring together, so yet another present!
Since I bought these black dollie shoes in October-ish I think, I thought they would be really useful and I'd wear them all the time. But to be honest this is one of the rare outfits for them. I hope I end up wearing them more over Spring/Summer. They do squeak when I walk, I think because I've got the heel insole in them as they are slightly too big. But my feet appeared to have stopped growing at a half size. Useful, not!
I've twisted the side of my hair and pushed it forwards slightly. Similar to my Suicide Roll hair, found here.
A VoilĂ !

Preview Show

Hey Guys!
Yesterday was the first performance in front of an audience, but it was a preview so it was a little rusty around the edges still. Appaz it was still pretty good and smooth for a 1st show.
I wore this outfit as it didn't have any loose bits that might get caught, or a little one might grab at or get attached to. It was a good outfit to complete a preview in so I knew how much running about I would actually be doing. Also, when it's home time and its chilly outside it kept me warm. I think of this look being very dressed down and fits more to the "couldn't be bothered" description. But I had 2 comments of me "looking smart". When I'm in leggings and the top only comes down to my hips, I never thought it could look smart. A longer top and I may consider it. But I'll take any compliment that comes!
The blue with white heart print top is the main attraction the in look. I added a polo shirt underneath as the collar linked in with the white hearts. The black leggings are a good, simple compliment to the busy design of the top. Whe-hey! I whipped out the glittery boots to get the party going! HeHe! But you can't see the glitter party in the piccy, which is a little sad.
Even thought I had a white collar around my neck, the mains of my top was dark, so I swept the hair off the face again. I'm stunned by how long my ponytail is getting. Hair like N-Scherzy here I come!
Overall, it's a good chilled, relaxed flexible outfit.

Top Tunes Tuesday 1st January 2013!

Hey Guys!

Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed your own celebrations. But if you still got parties on the way, crack out these bangers to get people going on the dance floor! (Maybs not the first one, it's a little slow!)

This latest vid by our Chezza was shot by Rankin. I think you can totally tell by the artistic, high contrast black and white shots. I'm feeling it's a little risky having all the canoodling with Tre in a majority of the video. 1) Since I thought Chezza wanted to keep the relationship more private this time and 2) Awks if they break up and there's a new boyf on the scene, then this song explodes and the vid goes viral! #just saying!

I think this sounds quite like T-sSifts Love Story at the beginning. It's also proper love fest song like Swiftys tune. I think it's the combination of the drums and guitary bits that make me feel that the chorus sounds really powerful. But they all finally admit that they loved me first, so you can't argue with that!

Cheeky ol' JLS! Sneaking this song up on me and I didn't even notice it had made it's way onto Radio 1s play list! I like this upbeat and uplifting song, because its not a pure cheese "we can do it", "believe in yourself" song. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of pure musical cheese. But sometimes you gotta try and hold on to the little remains of your street cred.

I know this had been floating around for a short while, but I don't think I initially liked it. However giving it a second chance I'm totes loving it now! Shame there not more of Cher's part because I find this bit the catchiest. Who knows what any of them are actually saying, I just like dancing to it!

This is a little different from what I normally put up. It's a DJ mix of some of the proper crackers from 2012. It's a great way to start the new year with a collection of songs that remind you of some really fun times back in 2012. Which was like soooo yesterday!

I hope you find your "jam" and "keep partying to the am", in the wise words of Flo Rida. HeHe!
