Summer Wear!

Hey Guys!

Finally the hot weather has arrived and my college wear has instantly been injected with summer vibes!

This outfit has a colour pop, bold red skirt with a plain white v-neck t-shirt, teamed with a cropped denim jacket. I originally wanted to wear a simple white vest to with it, but I think that the t-shirt works well as a necklace shape space is available. Without a necklace it appeared quite bear, and I don't normally wear necklaces. But a small pendant look subtle, yet still noticeable. I'm actually wearing the middle part of a three-part friendship heart necklace!

I felt that the skirt was a teeny bit too short to wear with bare legs, so I whipped out the tan coloured tights. It is so important to get the correct shade of tan in these tights. Other wise they become too obvious, and the Kate Middleton look it ruined! I've even found some which appear slightly stripey and orange, the perfect fake tan effect! HeHe! Sometimes for the evening it is nice to have a slight shine or gloss- these may sometimes be called sheer tights. This can make your legs look really toned as they feel like they have slightly tighter elastic woven in.

I have a pair of red wedges on which have a woven straw wedge. I think that anything which is made with woven straw- be it hats, bags or shoes- can instantly give a summery feel to a look. Lush!
Cheeky: Believe it or not the cropped jacket is actually aged 5-6 years! I've had it since then and it's been through me and all my sisters! This is a great way of recycling old clothes. Also, I can imagine that down at a charity shop a child's denim jacket is going to be far cheaper than an adults one. It is brilliant, as long as you want a cropped look. Something tells me if you want full length sleeves, you might have to buy your actual size!

I love the sunshine!

Marbled Nails

Hey Guys!So I was on line in a Que for some tickets yesterday, and I got bored. Here's the outcome!

I have tried out a couple of marbling effects on my nails. On my ring finger I tried water marbling and on the other two I chose dry marbling, I suppose.

Water Marbling: To get this design, used a small yogurt pot filled with mid-temp water. I then poured small dots of 3 colours of nail varnish in to the pot. Then I used a cocktail stick to swirl the colours around and create a pretty pattern. Then I dipped my nail into the water where there was no nail varnish. I scooped my nail through the patch of design I wanted to wear and proceeded to lift my nail out of the water. This does get all over your fingers and is very messy! This is the reason I chose a yogurt pot and I could simply bin it once i was finished and the cocktail stick can be wiped with some kitchen roll, then used again. I chose dark purple, bright pink and coral in colours. It can be quite a waste of nail varnish to get one nail completed. So I recommend you buy yourself some cheap colours which are specially for marbling. Sometimes which the nail varnish drops into the water it runs, and spreads into a large circle. I found it worked better if i put the other colours on top and inside of this circle as it all attached together better.

Dry Marbling: I don't really know the actual name for this. First you apply a base coat with one of the colours you are going to use. I chose white and a bright pink. Then I applied the white as a drop in the middle of my nail. I then applied a dot of the bright pink on top of the, still wet, white dot. So that i didn't contaminate the pink with white, i scrapped the pink onto a cocktail stick and put it onto my nail with that. I then swirled the colours around and together with the cocktail stick. I tried so smear the colour to the edge of the nail to create a full nail design. Be careful not to swirl too much as you will just end up mixing the two colours together completely. Try with as many colours as you like!

Obviously apply a top coat. These were only painted yesterday, but already the have begun to chip. I think that this is because the layers all together are so think, so make sure to apply a new top coat everyday. Apply the top coat around the top of the nail so it seals the varnish from front to back.

Have Fun!

Leopard Print Nails

Hey Guys!
So after giving my nails a mammoth break from nail varnish, I gave up and decorated them again! I have seen leopard print designs around quite a lot recently, and I saw a demonstration on the telly not too long ago. First, I painted my base coat and base colour. I applied two coats of base colour to give a bold colour. I then painted small dots over my nails. I chose a colour that really stood out against my base colour. I applied lots of dots into a small area on my nails to get the optimum leopard print effect. Then, a neat trick is to use a liquid eye-liner, pen or brush it doesn't really matter, and draw between two & three little lines around the dots. The liquid eyeliner is a great idea as the brush is so much smaller. There's no need for an expensive one, so at a couple of pounds can be cheaper than a pot of nail varnish! It's important to wait for he eyeliner to dry before you go over with your top coat, as you don't want to contaminate it and make it grey! As always apply another layer of top coat everyday to ensure long lasting nails.

College Wear 2

Hey Guys!
This is another outfit that I wore to College, and would be great for casual wear, or going shopping!
I had quite a matchy day. The white t-shirt is the stand out colour really as it hasn't been paired with any other piece, although most might find the red skirt more eye catching! I chose to wear the plain top underneath the skirt as I wanted to show off the elasticated waist detail. I also love the unusual design of the buttons down the front of the skirt. (When I was little I had a dress with spherical buttons down the back-but they kept popping under throughout the day! At least I can see them on this skirt!) The boots are a sensible height for college- even better, I can run for the bus in them! The red hair bow is the same tone as the skirt which is great for continuity throughout the outfit. I would have possibly donned a red lipstick too, in the same tone, but I didn't want to go too over board. Instead I went for a slightly subtler lip gloss. If you didn't want to team this with a black cardigan a great addition would be a thin tan coloured belt. If you find a Large or Extra Large intended for hips, you might be able to wrap it around twice. If not, a belt tied up after the buckle would look great too. This would tie in well with the boots.
In Summer I love to wear pretty outfits to college as I don't have to think about keeping warm anymore. So hopefully there should be more outfits coming!

Work Wear

Hey Guys!
This is an outfit which I wore to work last Saturday.
It's casual wear really as it's a relaxed environment at the drama group. I based my outfit around the leggings as it is essential I can move easily- especially with the little ones! I chose a patterned star print top, which is looser than the leggings and make the look more casual. I wrapped a thin brown belt around my hips to create a break between the block of black. I added a cropped denim jacked and chose a lacy bow to wear in my hair. The combination of the denim jacket and bow reminds me of the 1950's which I love. The pink trainers stand out against the rest of the colour scheme, but not too much.
Cheeky: I wore some black tights underneath the leggings as it was a little chilly! This also works well if your leggings have seen better days and have become thinner and see through. The black tights make the leggings look opaque again and you can get plenty more wears from them before you need to get new ones.
Better than a standard uniform?

Birthday Dinner

Hey Guys!
This is an outfit which I wore to a dinner out for my friends birthday last night. We said we'd do smart/casual and pretty outfits. So me and another friend dressed accordingly, but the birthday girl wore a baggy top and cardigan with leggings! But at least we looked pretty!
I chose this combination of red top with a pussy bow detail and a high waisted animal print skirt. I chose gold accessories with a small necklace and subtle ring. I think that the gold accessories give the outfit a warmer appeal, which is helped also by the colour of the top. I think that the contrast between the loosely fitted top and tighter skirt really helps emphasise and draws attention to my waist and legs. The looser top makes sure the outfit isn't too dressy and keeps it slightly causal. I feel that the two pieces are a bit clashy for my personal style, so I chose some simple black heels and tights to make sure I didn't over do the outfit.
What do you think?
(I've tested some editing techniques in these photos, fancy!)

College Wear

Hey Guys!
This is a rare insight into what I wear to college. Normally it's a very quick throw on of the clothes then I race out of the door to the bus. This tends to result in outfits that don't look too special. But I like this outfit as it is casual but still cute.
The basic outfit is a blue bodycon dress and leggings. I have added a chunky knit cardigan over the top and belted it around my waist. On my figure, this emphasises my waist and gives the effect of having some sort of booty! I've had compliments all day about the cardigan and my hair bow. I think that the bow adds a vintage look, a slight 50's edge. I love the 50's hair and make-up!
Blue is mentioned as one of this seasons key colours, but a bolder, royal blue would suit the season better, I think. Yellow is also a key colour, in spring it always is!
What do you guys wear to school/college/work?
(Didn't realise how pale my eyes look in the photo. Also li'l bit ill at the mo, so that's why I look ghostly and drained)
